Hmm, I was just ust remembering the hype about the L405 being mostly aluminium so so much lighter, I didn't realise the L322 had any aluminium panels!

So the L322 is part steel body and part aluminium body - I was wondering how the rear arches get so rusty if they are aluminium...

The rear of the car is structural and made of steel, hence the potential for wheel arch rust, made worse by insufficient protection from stones thrown up by the wheels. It is regrettable that LR reduced the level of protection in this area compared with the P38, which had galvanised steel and anti chip paint on these areas, whereas the 322 has only paint. Presumably a cost saving measure. Only Range Rovers since 1988
