Ive just done it recently on the 2004 which has 200k on it and the steering wheel had seen better days. Don't know what video you watched but I bought a kit from ebay for around £10 to refurb the steering wheel and very happy with the outcome. I had previously used a similar kit on an old Jag and had similar results. Current Fleet:-

I used a leather restore kit and although it was ok, if your wheel is now smooth and shiney ( worn grain) all you end up with is a recoloured worn flat spot leather |

Please has anyone used any of these leather paints / dyes to take leather to a lighter colour? I'd like to change the upper and lower sections of my wheel from black to the parchment of the upholstery but I'm not sure the black will cover sufficiently well.
