4.4 Jag and SC owners on LPG

If you've got an 4.2 sc on lpg or a 4.4 Jag engined FFR on lpg, can you give me an idea of how its going re mechanical problems rather than performance related ones. Any one had any valve seat issues as yet and after what mileage ?

had mine 3 years with zero problems so far related to lpg. obvs had the usual everything else.
I do have the lube system fitted which I hope helps and have the gas system serviced regularly

4.4 jag, self lubing BRC since nearly new, now on 80k mls, no problems (yet Wink )

England 2005 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Bonatti Grey

Had my E-gas system fitted in 2007 at 34k miles no lube system. Had heads re-valve seated at 64k ish withhardened seats. No issues since then. Now got 140k miles on clock and no valve related issues.

I do have an engine management light come on when on LPG. Just run car prior to MOT on petrol after error reset. petrol ok as soon as switched back to LPG management light came on. Just need to get fault code read and go to LPG installer to see what is bringing on fault Icon.

could do with a circuit/connection diagram for E-gas sytem. can anyone help? 4.4 Vogue SE 2003

It is probably one of your banks running lean causing the Engine Light to come on. Just needs a bit of a tweek on the computer.

Now at 200K (miles) most of it on LPG , had to have the valves re shimmed at 160K apart from that all ok.

Occasionally get a lean bank code, but just clear them and carry on.

Have a sequential system with lube going to each intake, 2 off 4 lead spiders dripping into the intakes right next to the individual gas injector.

As a side thought, i did think of making an adapter that allowed to lube to be inserted into the lpg tank at the time of filling , that way we could be sure that it is hitting the mark as it would be part of the gas/lube mix, in some countries they include the lube in the bulk tank you fill from so you don't need a separate lube system, thoughts anyone ?

The LPG tank is under high pressure so I really don't know if that would be possible, but I like the idea. Have to look into that in Holland, where lpg is rather common. Never heard of that system here in France.

i was thinking of a Tee into the fill line, a quick fit hydraulic connector linked to a hand pump (remember the old hydolastic pumps) pump in 70ml to the fill line and then fill with 70 liters of LPG , Simples if i ever get around to doing it ?

yep why not, here in France they would probably ban me from the road, here the LPG system is checked every MOT. Add the lube in the LPG at the pump is not a bad idea.

Am i right in thinking that the 4.2 doesnt like to be converterd unless the seats are hardened? Heard a lot of horror stories and the like

No issues so far
It all depends how its set up IMO
ie I have a slipstream of petrol after 2950rpm and a lube oil system fitted

Hi all I need my 4.2sc converting, rang a lpg installer who dose stag and brc, he recommended the stag with a lube system even thou the brc system was £700 more. Any ideas please.
