Not a 'Fatty' but of interest? | |
I spent 15 days on a trekking holiday in Nepal in Nov/Dec, cleverly adding an extra day in Kathmandu at the end of the trekking as a bit of R&R after spending nine days walking to and from Annapurna Base Camp. Anyway, I'd just enjoyed a pizza with an old friend from my Army days and we were leaving the restaurant when the Range Rover in the photos pulled up outside. I asked the owner if I could take a couple of pictures as I was a bit of an enthusiast and he happily agreed. He told me that it used to belong to the ill-fated Nepali Royal family but that more recently it had been used by the actor Malcolm McDowell on a 1000 km expedition in Nepal.
As an aside, I kept a note of how many 'green ovals' I saw during my 15 day stay, as listed below:
1 x Disco 1
1 x Disco 2
1 x Freelander
2 x Defenders (one in Gurkha Welfare Trust livery)
1 x Range Rover
Funnily enough the only one I saw out in the uhlu was the Defender, but there is an interesting article in the current Land Rover Monthly about Land Rover expeditions in Nepal. I did my trek the hard way - and besides, nothing on four wheels would be able to get up to Annapurna Base Camp (4130m)! L322 TDV8 4.4 - current
