You would still prob get £800 with a broken engine, so if it dies you would only lose £1000, and with only 22K since change, I would run it till it breaks. I once got 300,000 miles without a cam belt change, and have had many inexpensive cars do 120,000 miles without a cambelt change before selling them on towards the end of their life as its not cost effective. I have a friend who doesn't earn a lot, and buys cheap cars through necessity and amazing how many years he can get out of them without spending any money on them before they die or fail an MOT.
Maybe another thread, how many miles has your cambelt done...…
I would like to point out these are 'commute cars' and my Landrovers have never wanted for anything, but that's because they mean more to me than a means of getting A to B, probably like most here. Previously......
