Presumably the idea is to put the child(ren) in a third row of seats leaving the dog to occupy the seat accessible via the door.

I cannot think of a LR option, but a Volvo XC90 would be an option with (in my opinion) a better brand image than BMW -certainly better looking that an X7 which looks aesthetically challenged externally. Volvos are a long way from a Range Rover in terms of luxuriousness even when fully specced but then they are considerably cheaper. |

In contrast to some of the anti BMW opinions above I think the X7 would be an excellent choice. It will be better than or equal to the RR in all areas I would say other than looks, off road capability and image.

Going back to the original question, I’ve only seen photos of the X7; I’ve never seen one in real life. Is it out and about yet?

As you say it’s a shocking piece of design which manages to roll bland, ugly and chintz into one package Deigned with the American and Chinese markets primarliy in mind which I suppose is where the majority will be sold. |

Many thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I'm a longtime visitor, and this has always struck me as one of the friendliest forums on the net. RR and dog lovers- can't improve on that!

It’s interesting looking at the X7’s specifications. For something that’s prices as a FF competitor, it’s got a maximum towing limit of 2.2 tonnes. That’s no more than a Disco Sport can manage.

For Red Merle - The eponymous beast. And yes, in the absence of other ideas, child # and expected child #2 would have the second row, and Mr B (short for Mr Bear - for obvious reasons), to give him his family moniker, would have the third row. Even this demotion may be rather tricky to deal with |

Just a Laser to pull from Keswick to Ullswater, so towing limits are not really a factor. Quite surprised that the towing limit is so low, however. The car is no lightweight, and the 50d engine doesn’t seem short of puff. |
