I have two cars with adaptive cruise and wouldn't be without it, much safer and easier to drive but there are some on here that don't like it for some reason. You do still have to drive and I use the distance control and accelerator to smooth things out but the fact that if I set it the speed to 70 on the motorway and come up behind someone doing 68 it gently drops my speed to match instead of having me bowling up to get too close to them is a wonder of technology.

I was loaned a RRS with it. I did 500 mainly motorway miles.

Thanks for everyone’s thoughts. It is the MY19 steering assist feature of ‘Adaptive Cruise with Steering Assist’ I am particularly interested in (vs the older technologies like lane keeping or regular adaptive cruise which I am familiar with). It’s also available on the latest RRS and on some Jags so i’ll have a poke about to see what I can find and i’ll share anything interesting here. The big test for steering assist, I think, will be its ability to stay centred in the lane and it’s useability on anything other than a straightish motorway, though I’m not too hopeful. I expect Land Rover will be at 2018 levels of Tesla automation in about 2025... |
