Smart Keys

What does everyone do when the rubber casing comes off the smart key on a 4.4?

It is the key which has been used the most I would say. I just can't seem to make the rubber casing stick back into the little grooves around the edges.

I have looked on ebay for both genuine and non genuine cases, so I can tidy things up.

Any pointers appreciated.. Thumbs Up Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

Just get a new case from Land Rover. Duckworths Dan does them for a very reasonable price.

There are instructions on here how to swap them over.

Alternatively you can put the innards in a later one, someone on here offers this service....

changed my smart key cover today, used a genuine Land Rover hard plastic item, much better and no stupid rubber to come off. Got a rather good set of pictorial instructions with it!

Is that something that would be handy on the wiki Stan?

if so I can scan them and upload. Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

Hard plastic one? Is that different to the original one?

Got a new genuine one just over a year ago, and it's coming apart again - so a genuine one that's had the issue sorted would be good...... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Stu, an old thread, but can you give us details of the key cover you used please?

Part number, price would be great.

I don't fancy the smaller type, rubber's lifting.
. Cheers, Greg

Mines horrendous now. How it’s staying attached at the single corner left I’ll never know Rolling with laughter

I look after my fob. I’m thinking now that the glue goes off from the heat when it’s in our pockets. All I can think of that causes it. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Stan do these just go onto your existing key 'chassis'?
Do you peel off the rubber?
