Range Rover Vogue 2009 TDV8 sticking ignition barrel

My 2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 has a “sticking “ ignition barrel.
Intermittent fault which is a really pain😩
Sometimes when i put the key into the ignition barrel I do not hear any electrical system noioand key wonot turn to start.
Taken key out and reinserted which sometimes works
Other times i have locked and unlocked vehicle which sometimes works!!
Why is it doing this?
No fault lights at all on dash when it does.
Many Thanks in anticipation

Battery terminals appeared slack but they are not easy to tighten up!!
When I put key in I can hear some electrical click s but nothing.
Try this a few times and key eventually turns 😩
Both keys are the same. Do i re-code the keys or what would you recommend 1st?
Regards
