Warranty - Turbos

Has anyone got any experience of RAC Platinum Warranty?

I bought my RR at the beginning of this year, and I have a feeling my turbos are starting to go.

My RAC Platinum Warranty 3 Year Plan states itncover turbochargers (factory fitted) so I was wondering does anyone have any experience of RAC and also of turbo replacement under warranty. I was wondering what’s the best way to word the issue to have the best chance of getting turbos replaced under warranty? Don’t fancy fitting the bill myself lol.

Also anyone any experience of EGR Coding Delete and Remap?

Turbos on the 3.6 don’t generally “start to go” they just go.

Not had any experience of the RAC, but as with most warranties I would doubt that they will carry out a preventative swap.

What symptoms are you getting? There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Usually when they go they really go and take the engine with them

I very much doubt the warranty company will change them as a preventative

I’d wait till they go and take the engine with them and then get them to sort it onto no6 Range Rover

On start up she slightly smokey with a heavy fume smell.

I also noticed a couple of times what I would think is turbo whistle.

I could be barking up the wrong tree and haven't had a mechanic look her over in the last month or two to confirm anything all the same.

There are a couple of threads regarding EGR delete - a quick search will find them.

I've had it done to my 3.6 TDV8.

Blanking plate set from eBay (about £36 and a bit fiddly to fit) Then a remap of the ECU via Quantum that included deleting the EGRs.

Goes like a rocket now and passes MoT test as blanking plates are in the engine V beneath the cover (and MoT testers are not allowed to remove covers)

Before EGR blanking, check if you have a DPF .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember

Hi, very interested in this thread. I too have 3.6 tdv8 and wondering about egr delete.
Why does DPFs have a bearing on egr delete? If you have DPFs you cannot delete egr.?

Also my experience of rac warranty wasn’t positive.
If they have an opportunity to blame something not covered they will.
