Finally on my third Range Rover I took up the offer of an experience day.

I added to the free half day, and made it a full day. A half day would be very short!

All the cars were MY18’s with a sprinkling of My 17’s . I had the FFRR MY18.

The instructor was excellent .

The course was fun, but I wish there were some longer hills ...glutton for punishment . Driving along at 45 degrees picking daisies out of the side window is different.

Lots and lots of mud and water.

Learnt some stuff , and respect the car even more now. This is a must go and do if you have just bought a FFRR

Bill Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

Just come back from this. Had a MY18 4.4 FFRR to drive. Every other model available including an I-Pace too.

Had 3 hours (I hadn't checked anything about it apart from the start time) and 66 miles of track to cover. You can only go on some of it on your second + visit. After the preliminaries and explanation of the controls and a demo of the step climb and the 'horseshoe', which is all about suspension articulation, off you go onto stuff which you would actually hesitate to walk up or down.

All on road tyres too. I was utterly impressed by what the car can do, especially the climb back up the quarry (name?) track, which is literally a series of huge muddy steps. I now have a much better appreciation of the off-road ability of the FFRR, in particular how useful HDC is and that it's more than about just slowing you down.

Instructor explained what all the settings did very clearly, and what the car was doing and why as we went around. Brilliant fun. He said his favourite was the Evoque because everyone thinks its a soft-roader and he likes to see the punters jaws drop when they get it to do its stuff.

When I did mine a few years ago, had an ex SBS guy as my co-driver (host driver) and after a thorough going over with a FFRR I asked him what he drove and he said the mk4 disco was his favourite and most capable. Something. To do with a shorter overhang?
