I downloaded and burnt cds from that site just a few weeks back ....its likely the burning process, you have to do it slow

I made a few coasters whilst trying 2 or 3 burning software programs before I got it right...been perfect since in the car cheers

The Mk4 Nav is very, very fussy about the media you use, good quality branded DVD+R seems to work best Thumbs Up It really doesn't like printable discs either and as bogie says "slowly does it!" Wink 2015 L405 SDV8 Autobiography, Indus Silver with Black Pack.

Splash screen to cd was fine. Maps was problem.

The download took 7 hours i think.

Didn't get as far as burning to disc. I'll have to find out the accurate reason but basically i think he tried to open some of the files on his computer once the download was complete such as images that he believes should of opened and they said file too large which he stated they shouldn't have been, or it said file corrupt.

Should he not be doing this? He designs computer programs and websites so should be ok with this stuff (unlike me!)

Don't for one moment think there will be anything dodgy about site. Just seeking advise to if anything else i can do (other than pay for it!!)

ah - yes, the download is slow as he dosent have much bandwidth, so it crashed once or twice ...had that prob

tell your mate to persevere, and he will get a good image sooner or later - if its correct you can mount it and read the contents properly before burning cheers

Thanks. I'll ask him to try again. Once its downloaded correctly will it be as good as paying £30 of bimmernav etc or am i just being tight and should i be just buying one of their discs?

also. if i put in the upated v32 splash screen is this the full update of v32 or just the splash screen. eg do i need to download v32 firmware 1st then change the splash screen 2nd?

Or does the upgrade for splash screen on matt s site include the whole v32 software?

It should be V32 firmware with the Land Rover splash screen but if your mk4 is already running v32 with the original BMW splash the system wont just change update splash screen. You would have to downgrade to V31 or older before upgrading to V32 with LR splash. 2015 L405 SDV8 Autobiography, Indus Silver with Black Pack.

So basically once i can get my maps burnt (or bought, worse case) with the cd my friends done with updated splash screen i should be ok provided my mk4 unit (that is sitting at postoffice) isn't already running v32.

I've seen on bimmer nav how to check what the systems running currently so will check once picked up unit tomorrow.

I have my mk4 unit now but currently no disc. can i install, load the screen splash and re insert my current disc?

Or failing that just install and insert new splash screen disc.

don't need sat nav for anything until my new disc arrives but would like to get plumbed in so to speak.

Nick, I would recommend making sure your mk4 actually works ok before trying to update the splash screen. Shocked Take your current Land Rover map CD out of the LR nav, disconnect the battery if you wish but its not compulsary and swap over the Nav units then reconnect battery and test it works ok. Wink

Dont worry about an updated map DVD as the mk4 will work fine with your old Land Rover map CD. The splash screen will probably be the standard BMW one but that wont affect its operation. Once you are happy all is fine and that the unit isn't already running V32 then you can go through the firmware update to V32 with your Range Rover splash screen.

Then carry on using the Land Rover map CD until you "source" a suitable and up to date map DVD Thumbs Up

That was the answer i was after thanks. Will the old cd/map (current) show in a new format (3d/slit screen/ colours etc) or will it look the same as before?

It's the Nav software that controls the perspective/split screen view not the map disc so you will be fine Thumbs Up 2015 L405 SDV8 Autobiography, Indus Silver with Black Pack.
