I’ve been told go for a minimum 2015 MY A’s they had sorted out most of the errors in the software etc by then. |

TBH my 2013 has been pretty bullit proof apart from a little airbag issue which was down to a seat sensor in the end (after 3 goes) but tbh I can't see an aweful lot difference in anything until the lates one. Sure you get 2016 gets a new screen etc, but tbh they don't seem as solid as the older ones which is why I just keep putting it off changing. VSE for me is the right one to go for, as things on it just seem pretty decent for the money. all smug in my new plug!

My 2013 Megamiler is running sweet as a nut. more than the year, the service and type of owner will make the difference. 2015.5 MY have been significantly upgraded but you'll pay a premium over a 2012/14 for one.

The MY15 gets the stop start motor. Has anyone had problems with starters wearing out or any other problems? ______________________________

Verydisco has done 177,000 in his but with comprehensive servicing and care. His is a 4.4 tdv8 which do have the dynamic stability (corners more level than without). The jury is still out on the 3.0L sdv6. There are a lot for sale on autotrader in the uk. |

Recently bought a 14MY SDV8, with 78k miles and only just out of warranty and it’s epic mate. So much lighter, completely different animal to drive too. Took a while to get comfortable, controls are dead easy to use, the 19 speaker stereo is mega too! |

Remove the radiator assembly, remove the accessory belt, remove the starter motor, rotate the crankshaft to insert flywheel locking pin, remove the crankshaft pulley, remove camshaft belt cover, insert camshaft locking pins, remove camshaft belt. The bigger pain due to lack of access, at least on the D4, is changing the HPFP timing belt at the back of the motor which includes setting the HPFP timing. The 4.4's HPFP is gear driven and being located at the front of the engine is much more accessible if it ever has to be R&R'd. The biggest problem with the 4.4 IMO is that the oil filter housing and oil cooler are mounted on top of the EGR cooler and LR haven't yet realised (that I know of) that the gaskets and O-rings involved need to withstand the heat from the EGR cooler. |
