Could I ask a small favour please? Could I ask all of the members here with facelift 405’s to report what happens to your headlamps when tourist mode is initiated? Ie could you kindly tell me what happens to the beam pattern with all different headlamp types please...

I think the beam takes away all the top led’s that make the LHD RHD beam pattern... could you guys please check and report back...

I take it you mean if your driving a uk car on the continent for eg.
As in the owners handbook it states ;

as craig has upgraded led headlights to his FF, i think he needs a physical description of what actually happens...

Im after some owners just having a look as to what their lights do i.e. parking their cars against a garage door or facing a garden wall and explaining A, which lights they have fitted & B, what happens to their beam pattern when changing driving mode to LHD or "tourist mode" please?

Yes as Stan said i have changed my lights to Pixel Plus LED and my "development tech guys" are working on a LHD/RHD "tourist mode" for the retro fit boxes we use... They are of the understanding that UK RHD lights placed into LHD or Tourist mode through the cars drivers settings erase the top level of LED's i.e. the LED's that both make the RHD kick up to the left and walk Left & Right with the steering inputs (thats what mine do which are Pixel Plus)

Ok Craig, no probs..
But it seems looking at the handbook details there is no LHD or RHD option anymore as the headlights automatically adjust themselves. I get my 19MY back tomorrow which has the pixel-laser LED’s and I can check against a wall but as I said I really don’t think there is an option in the headlight menu anymore as there used to be to alter from LHD to RHD.
I might be wrong and as I said I will have a play when I get it back from the detailers as I had the factory handover and went straight to the detailers so haven’t messed about with it yet

Or am I still totally getting the wrong end of the stick and I’m being really dim

You don't change the lights manually for driving abroad, it is all automatic. All LR cars from 1984

In my menu it says High Beam Assist Drive Left or Right... I gathered there might be something in that? Don't know as I've not been out of the country yet...

It does it via the cameras. Wherever the lens picks up a light source it will dim the LED so that the oncoming vehicle or rear of a vehicle (whichever side of the road it is) will not be blinded. All LR cars from 1984

So what happens below 40kmh? It says it shuts off below that speed. Does it just blind people on mainland Europe at that point or am I missing something!

the auto main high beam function shuts off below 40kph. So above 40Kph the Auto high beam operates, so at night when there are no vehicles approaching, the car automatically operates high beam but below 40Kph, the automatic operation is OFF and it does not operate automatically so you have to manually put the car onto high beam as you would normally with the stalk if you required high beam below this speed.

Thank you gents... I was loaned a 2019 400e for ten days and that had dynamic high beam on Matrix lamps which was pretty mind blowing to drive at night! There was the option to drive on Left or Right in preferences but that did nothing to the beam pattern!

I think the left/right option is just for high beam assist to help it focus on a particular side for oncoming traffic

I've never noticed any difference in beam pattern

The matrix lights sound interesting though
