It never fails to amaze me how dreadful Land Rover dealers are.

I had been talking to dealers for a while. It was a litany of people failing to call me back or unable to just follow up in any sort of competent manner.

In the end, I placed an order for a £100k+ L405 Autobiography with the local dealer (after finding a sales person who:
a. stayed there more than a couple of months; and
b. seemed able to call me back).
I realise that is a low bar but, trust me, he was the only one out of twenty I talked to who cleared it.

I have asked for an extended test drive of the hybrid, which is what I ordered. Well, that is not possible, apparently. But I can drive their RRS Hybrid. Ok.
Can I have it on this coming Saturday?
No but I can have it any other time.
Next Saturday?
Yes, let me confirm on Tuesday latest.
Tuesday comes and goes
Any news?
Ignored.

On the Friday, I called. What's happening?
I'll call you back.

I call on Saturday. Am I getting the car?

Well, given I asked for it two weeks ago , that patently isn't true. I can have it Monday Tuesday but I willtake it shooting and the dog will sleep in it.
Well, I will need to get permission.

Total f##cking incompetence and a lack of customer service that beggars belief. Sadly, I think it's typical for Land Rover dealers. Why the factory puts up with such f##kwittery representing them, I have no idea.

Couldn't agree more EM... Similar story i have found over the past 3 months! And i didn't spend much in comparison...

And the news is full of JLR sales dropping dramatically - you'd have thought they'd have a bit more time on their hands to focus on the customer now.....

Or maybe these 'sales' people have never actually had to try and don't know how to do it.

They’re reducing their production levels accordingly so currently they don’t have an issue as demand is still outstripping the reduced supply.

Clearly they're not hungry enough to be bothered with your sale, you really shouldn't have to chase them, they should be beating a path to your door.

There are plenty of dealers on Carwow who will be happy take your order. You could canvass opinions from several forum members...

You should also name and shame the dealer through any channel you feel appropriate. "Which" magazine would love it!

That is atrocious EM - however, it may be a local thing. On Friday we had our local dealer call us twice, text us 3 times and an invite appeared via snail mail to come down and have a look at their 'Black Friday' offerings.

They seemed pretty keen to talk to us!

We didn't go, being perfectly happy with what we have (and too busy), but at least our local dealer seems to be concerned with sales!

Despite being miles away, Matford LR at Exeter were excellent when dealing with me for both spares and sales. I didn't end up buying the RRS I'd seen with the wife (Who did like it!!) and hung on to be f$@@ed about by Grange LR in Woodford instead on my FF. Lookers at Chelmsford don't have many friends here but were courteous and on the ball when I looked at a D5. They refunded my deposit when I told them I'd changed my mind too.

My local dealer also sends lots of emails about black Friday deals. However, they don't seem to be able to follow up with existing customers.

I have met the CEO of the company a few times - shooting and dinner parties. I suspect the Dealer Principal will be a tad surprised when he gets a call asking why a mate has been poorly treated.

The sales man at Taunton LR is excellent, bought the last 3 FF and the Defender through him but wrong side of the country from you and as you are all bored of hearing their service department is woeful.
