Brake pipe repair now completed

A couple of times I've had to top up the brake fluid
So from posts on here about the front to rear pipe corroding I posted a job on whocanfixmycar stating that repair and because swmbo has said no more crawling under the FF so I am looking for a good local fitter ,
I got a reply from a local garage and went down to see them this morning and as prescribed it's the front to rear pipe it's seeplng from the rear section so it goes in on Thursday for said pipe
The guy seems to know his stuff and put the FF up on the ramps for inspection and I asked how much I owed him for his time he replied I've only looked at it no charge , so hopefully I've found someplace that's not in the rip off game he quoted 15/20 quid for parts and 80 labour which I thought sounds reasonable , hate paying for jobs I can do myself but she's going off it I am allowed to do servicing and repairs up top but nothing with jacks ,axlestands and wheels being taking off
God she must love me or the insurance has ran out Rolling with laughter Thumbs Up
Once again thanks to FFRR site who pointed me in the right direction by fellows posting there faults and fixes
Cheers Thumbs Up

Just make sure he takes the covers off on the front to rear pipes (up in the channel) they will be all rotted to hell .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Yes joe that's what he said which is why I thought he seems to know what he's on about
Ding I'll wait till thurs to see what he does before I let the garage name out because the last one I used was hopeless had the in tank FP done on my disco then had to drop the tank on the drive to do it properly
Cheers Thumbs Up

Yes don't mess about, I had a high speed trip back from Scotland with 4 blokes and 4 bikes when I got home I noticed a puddle on the driveway - yes you guessed it - Brake Fluid. Without warning a pipe had burst and I had to drive it to a nearby Indy to get it fixed. As any new fluid (and I used plenty) just Censored out, I was on the handbrake which worked well but just locked the back wheels so I went in the dead of night (no traffic) and shoved my keys though the door.

I think maybe I just used one of my nine lives and so did my passengers - but they didn't know. Thumbs Up Geoff

I replaced both front to rear lines myself. They are a bit tricky to do but they come from Land Rover pre-shaped at around £12 each. The nearside is easy to do but the offside is L shaped to run across the rear of the car. That’s the tricky one!

Do they both run down the near side under the plastic cover and are the brakepipies from LR a stock item or do they need ordered Thumbs Up

Yes that’s correct. Remove the plastic covers and you’ll see them. They corrode on the exposed sections.

I had to order mine but both arrived next day.

FF is in the garage for brake pipes and the guy just rang saying the rear flexi-pipe on the near side has gone as well told me to pop down and take a look so he seems an ok guy
I told him to replace both sides and he reckons it will add about £150 including vat to replace and fit them seems far enough as it's peeing down here and lying on back work seems less appealing than normal he's using lr parts
Thumbs Up

So the FF went in for a leaking front to rear brake pipe and as I expected I've had both front to rear pipes and both rear flexi pipes needed doing
Tried out this new garage and the guy seemed to know his stuff.
Total cost £250 for two pipes and two flexi pipes fitted seems a fair price to me ,and I will be using them in future
It's tripal garage dunston the guys name is parm
So it's great to have found a non ripoff garage that knows about landrovers if any one wants his number give me a shout
Cheers Thumbs Up
