Hi all, bit of advice really, i had a non start issue yesterday with HDC inactive and charging fault, battery light on all the time so i have replaced the battery today, cleared all faults, the battery light has gone out when starting, but the iid tool is showing 11.2v so i double checked with a meter on the battery and that shows the same, does any one think that this will be the alternator?, bear in mind no battery light on and no faults showing do i need to re-set the battery? if so exactly how do you do this?, i don't want to book it in to get the alternator done, when only a reset is required, i have done a search for resetting the battery but have come up short in exactly how to do this

Hi should have 14v at the battery terminals with the engine running so looks like your alternator to me but check belts first

That's a shame as would have been the cheap part to replace

+ 1 for an alternator issue. Should have 14v running. As suggested check the belt tension as the tensioner failing is a common issue. 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal |

i think it is the alternator, its just throwing me because the battery light goes out on starting and there are no faults showing on the iid tool, so if you didn't check the voltages directly you wouldn't know 2011 4.4 tdv8 autobiography black

Do you have a local auto electrician, they would be able to tell you for sure if it's the alternator or something else |

no worries on that one i can do it myself, as i said its throwing me because its acting as normal no faults and normal operation of the battery light, before i swapped the battery the battery light was on permanently, that seems to have cleared, and that's what is confusing me, hence the battery re-set question, as i know the charging system is not "as ordinary", smart charging i think its called although someone with greater knowledge may disagree 2011 4.4 tdv8 autobiography black

If you do eventually need to change the battery, then the battery replacement reset is in the “Body control menu” section of your iid.

The charging circuit is designed for the AGM battery. I believe it is progressive but you should still have 14v with the engine running especially with a new battery fitted. 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal |
