I haven't done one there yet but I'd expect the bulb pulls out of the holder. Ron B. VK2OTC

Think you will find the bulb is spot welded in to the holder, it maybe has a bmw part number on it if you look and as far as I am aware they are no longer available been looking for some myself, been trying to see if can mod something to fit instead.

It is a BMW part number and the only place I could get one was a guy on eBay who I no longer have details of. If you search on here you'll find the part number. JLR don't supply the bulb separately. They want to sell you the complete dash unit at around £200. 2017 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged

Shocked

If that is the case, I will fabricate something when the time comes.

Is this the part: p/n JFB000010 (BULB AND SOCKET) (13D757 in pic)

Apparently not available, you have to purchase complete new vent unit with built in bulbs
At £250.
Not available through Bmw either.
Other than trying a breaker, it pretty shameful you have to pay out £250 to replace bulb.
Anyone any ideas to over come as not paying at that price.

"spot welded" Question

More likely soldered, in which case can you unsolder the bulb ? .

The bulb and holder is pretty minute
Probably someone with the right tools could
But a lot of effort ,for just a bulb change

I found the old BMW invoice from when I replaced 1 of my bulbs, popped the part number into eBay and it's available as follows: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E38-E39-Ash...ctupt=true

£18 for a bulb is a bit strong so you may want to try your local BMW dealer with the part number B61.13.8.352.935. I [aid £9.91 in February 2017 so could save you a couple of quid. Certainly better than £250 for the whole unit. 2017 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged

No definitely spot welded, magnifying glass job to see it and I know what a spot weld looks like, Vauxhall do the same trick with there dash bulbs so it means new bulb and holder.

See this link.. https://www.lrukforums.com/threads/tempret...ts.132040/
The pics show the bulb removed from the holder without damage. I see no reason you could not fit one of the bulbs in my previous link by bending the terminal wires straight. As I said I have done this before on Mercedes Bulb Holders. 2007 TDV8 VSE

Good news, BMW can supply bulb/holder at £8.44 each, took a few dealerships ,but one that went the extra mile, the part number above - has been super seeded by another which is not available yet as most dealerships suggested, how ever they were able to apply the new code to there stock making it available, so splashed out and bought 2

Thanks everyone for your help in this matter.
