The wife has sold her caravan, and I have a new job which is a 10 minute walk from home, so the ff is surplus to requirements. I’m not desperate to sell her, however it’s not gonna get the use it deserves, so what’s it worth guys, I’ve tried to get a comparison from trader, and Ebay put the prices seem to vary.

It’s a 57 plate tdv8 vogue, fsh 89500 miles mot until June. Good condition, and drives really well.

Ditto on the value of a L322.
Looking at selling my 2007 TDv8 Vogue at 98000miles, so would like to know what a fair price is for of those.

A dealer may offer £6K-£7K as a trade in due to mileage but it’s still nearly 12 years old

I traded a 56 TDV8 with 125K in with all the extras deploysble steps, RSE etc etc, flawless condition I tried eBay and not one taker in the end I got £5.6K onto no6 Range Rover

We buy any car valued my car at £6000, which I thought was ridiculously low, given the immaculate condition and the FSH.
Equally I have seen cars with higher mileage than mine going for over £10,000 through traders

Personally, I want/like to sell my cars privately at a fair price for everyone.

There is an entire prison for sale on the Isle of Wight for just £1, but they can't sell it, even for that. Why? (rhetorical) .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember

It’s worth exactly the amount someone will pay when you want to sell ....
not being in a rush doesn’t guarantee a better price in the future , if your expectations exceed market value

looking at what traders have cars up for isn't a great idea as there are some comedy prices out there...... 5 years ago i sold my mint 2005 td6 (facelift) i think that it had about 50k on the clock.... i got £8500..... that was 5 years ago...... i have seen some older with more miles advertised at £10k now..... lol never in a million years will they get that for it (unless its got a suitcase with £7k in the boot)


also prices that are "going for with traders" are what they are listed at, not what they sell for

I have had my eye on four 2012 L322’s on Auto Trader. One is a Vogue and the other 3 Westies. All have similar mileages of around 70,000 miles, and all have been advertised for 8 weeks or more.

When you use online valuation tools all 4 are overpriced by between £4000 to £6000.

In the current market with the high levels of road tax and an avoidance of large diesel engines the L322 is a difficult car to put a realistic price on. With this in mind it would appear to be a buyers market.

Totally agree with Jim, huge variations in price for the l405 too, I was looking at one which had just had £4k knocked off the price..

Yes, I could auction it on eBay and use that to gauge its value But with the increasing number of time wasters on there, I would much rather sale it the old fashion way.

Also is the diesel-gate scandal and consequent demonisation of the diesel cars really likely to affect the value of a 2007 truck? How many of us need to drive to London on a daily basis? I understand that the £500+ tax is a bit of a sting but surely the depression on a newer model with cheaper road tax would exceed the difference in road tax cost.

I love my L322 and cared for it as someone would care for the best vehicle they'd ever owned. Had it not be for me getting a company car, I would have probably held to it for many years to come.
So although I accept the fact that I must sell it to make way for another car, I do want to let it go for the right price.

My opinion- advertise it for whatever the car buying websites are offering + 15% then hope for the best.
As others have said you need to ignore what traders are asking for because you are not offering the same thing, they will (or should) have spent money preparing/fixing/servicing the car. They will offer p/ex, finance and warranty where you can’t.
I hate to accept it but I find buying or selling any car privately a nightmare due to time wasters , no shows, concerns about forged documents, insurance for test drives, is there a safe way to take a payment now?
If your car is particularly nice you may find a dealer willing to sell it on your behalf on a commission basis?
Personally I value my time too highly to waste much of it trying to get a bit more for my car.

lots of folk only buy cars as complex as a rangie from a dealer as the dealer has to warranty it-in theory 6 months

wbac is the easy way to offload but they have a target for further reductions[stonechips,dings,skuffs worn trim etc-no allowance for age] their offers are very low for older stuff
however they are generally not clued up mechanically so its simple to slip a car with issues by them[so i am told by a few friends who have used them]
selling a car is a nightmare nowadays,timewasters...chancers...lowball offers,often from folk with no intention to buy at all
