Set of 4?

So probably a silly question but should you change all 4 tyres at the same time or not. My fronts are quite worn on inside edges, recently had both lower suspension bushes replaced for play so that probably hasn’t helped the wear. Rears have 4-5mm left.
The handbook says ‘do not rotate the tyres around the vehicle’ so can’t even out the wear that way. The handbook also says ‘ideally tyres should be replaced in sets of four. If this is not practicable replace in pairs’ so does that mean 2 is fine or not. Seems a bit ambiguous!

in an ideal world yes you would, but not every one can afford to do that ..

as long as there isnt much difference in threads depths [new around 7/8mm] then it will be ok..make sure that equal tyres are on the same axle ..

Thanks, that makes sense as I’m currently running round with front and rear tread mismatched. And assuming the fronts always wear first that will always be the case. Will go get two new front tyres in the next week or so.
Thanks Paul.

Not sure if this applies to the FF, but with a disco 3/4 they recommend new tyres on back with the worn on front. Remember:- amateurs built the ark
Proffesionals built the titanic

They recommend that on every car - but it's not a mechanical thing - the logic is that the average driver can handle understeer better than oversteer, so put the worse tyres on the front.
