England 2006 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 V8 Tonga Green
'Unbadged Autobiography' Question.

My V5 doc states that my 2006 4.4 AJ-V8 Petrol FFRR is a 'Vogue SE'. However, thanks to a recent posted link, I have managed to get the build spec sheet and it is showing as an 'Unbadged Autobiography'

The vehicle is indeed unbadged, but is it really an AB? I don't see an AB badge under the bonnet - although I don't know where such a badge might be located.

I have done a search but didn't find a definitive answer.

Can anyone comment or shed any light on this please.

Pre-2009, Autobiography wasn’t a trim level, but a selection of special-order options (like paint and extra leather).

Ah, OK. Thanks Trommel.

Maybe I'll turn it into a 'badged Autobiography'.

Pre 2009 the Autobiography was a special order model rather than being a standard specced lineup which it became in 2010. This meant those pre 2010 vehicles were pulled off the line and send to Special Vehicles to be customised - eg special paint, special trim, particular extras but as far as I know they were branded as Autobiography models and most had the tailgate Autobiograph badge, the Autobiography sill plates and I would have through all had the special vehicles sticker on the front passenger side air strut under the bonnet. There are lots of 'badged' autobiographies out there that are no such thing, just a badge bought from ebay and prior to 2004 there was a limited edition Autobiography (LE) showroom spec vehicle ( i have one of those) but they didn't go anywhere near the SV unit and don't have the badge on the strut. There are a few special Autobiography limited edition runs through out the L322 model years but they are all well documented. As I said there are a lot of normal spec vehicles out there masquerading as Autobiographies but sadly are nothing more than a superglued trim badge. You though, have the opposite - a potential hidden AB.

You haven't said where you got the build sheet from but I would ring up Landrover who will be able to confirm if it is a) an Autobiography and b) what was Autobiography'ed on it. It could have been an ordered AB vehicle destined for Special Vehicles which then had the order cancelled and it stayed on the line and became a normal specced vehicle. It could also have originally been destined for the LR press or executive fleet and specced up higher than normal spec and in order to get some options fitted into it it was badged that way in the factory even if it didn't go to SV.

Thanks for the info nicksaab. I got the build sheet from here:

https://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/car-specifi...-equipment

As it happens I argued with the local LR dealer when I booked it in as, when I gave them the reg number, they said 'ah yes Tonga Green Autobiography'. I maintained it was a Vogue SE as shown on the V5.

Looks like I could be wrong.

Just dug out my V5C doc and it says Vogue SE A. Never noticed this before. Might the 'A' be the Autobiography designation?

Maybe. Can’t be A for automatic, as they were all automatic.

Must be someone else on here with another one to concur.....?

In 2006 there were 276 new Vogue SE A's registered in the UK - that number climbed to 1,471 in 2007 and then around 900 in 2008 and so was a standard DVLA registered model designation with the A usually means Automatic. Landrover often registers models with the DVLA with an A or AUTO suffix and Autobiographies are AUTOB or AB suffix but there other combinations usually because the dealer didn't fill in the first registration form correctly.

My 2004 Autobiography LE is registered as an AUTOBIOG LE A and my 2012 Westminster is a WESTMINSTER TDV8 A

Hope that helps or confuses even further
