its only taken 3 weeks..........

Off to the independent today for some warranty work on the FF, it has developed a belt type squeak , i had a look to try and identify the cause and found the belt half off the tensioner pulley, so i guess that's it, i will keep my fingers crossed...... 2011 4.4 tdv8 autobiography black

yes i know, i am fully capable to do this but that's what a warranty is for, although i did contemplate doing it myself because of the time factor to be honest i have had a good look and i don't see more than an hours work really, bit fiddly maybe but thats all, i would have done it by now, the only thing i am missing is my workshop Big Cry
Its also a bit of a trial run just to see how they get on with this simple job, then if something more involved happens, it may make me think twice about letting them do it, we will see........... 2011 4.4 tdv8 autobiography black

That’s quite often what I did, however getting any work done round me at the mo is just a joke now. If you want a fix at LR best hope the car gives you a couple of months notice. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

had a bad experience at a large stealer not far from us, i bought a FFRR and as part of the deal they would fully valet and service, anyway i fetched it and once home i just thought i would check a few things, not to check up on them you understand but to familiarise myself with the car, checked the oil, black as coal, bear in mind i lived about two miles from said stealership
so i immediately called the service manager to tell him quite politely that there had been a foul up and the tech had obviously forgotten to change the oil, verbatim " impossible sir i assure you the oil has been changed" not so says i its black thick and very dirty, "no sir i assure you it has been changed it says so on the service sheet the tech has filled in" i will pop back says i and show you 10 mins later i was at the stealers and the service manager came up as i parked, bonnet popped oil dipped and i showed him how dirty it was and he was still absolutely adamant that it had been changed. needless to say there was a few choice words. the dealership not in so many words said Censored off we are not doing it again, i asked to see the barrel of new oil they had used to prove that it wasn't black, but i was wasting my time.
I vowed then never to buy a car or have any work done at a JLR dealership and i have stuck to it.
i suppose i am fortunate to be time served and have a HND in mech engineering, so doing my own work is not only preferable but in my view necessary, i know they are not all like this but a fair few are i guess. so when i service i know exactly whats gone in and that its done right, the only thing that suffers is the official stamps in the service book, but i tend to keep them for a long time so don't really care.
If you pay to have your servicing/repairs done fair enough each to their own i suppose, only reason i am letting them do this work is that its warranty work.
Maybe i am getting cynical in my old age but i truly believe that customer service in this country is generally Censored poor. 2011 4.4 tdv8 autobiography black
