And how exactly can they tell the pin snapped because of corrosion and not because their mechanic wasn't over zealous with a drift and hammer or what ever tool they use to remove the pin? - they are not materials specialists. Are they providing you with evidence that the pin had rusted to the point that it materially affected its tensile strength? - no, they're not. They're talking B*****s.

Land Rover Approved Used Warranty have confirmed that the calliper has signs of rust and therefore not covered under the Warranty.

If the other three are in good condition, this one must have been substandard when new and therefore not fit for the purpose for which it was sold. They should pay, threaten them with small claims court. I had a similar situation with a 2.5 year old ford galaxy, alloy wheels were corroding, Ford refused a warranty claim saying corrosion wasnt covered, we went to court and I got 4 brand new alloys and centre caps.

Its a brake calliper, of course it has corrosion.

Hate to say this but imo sliding pins mounting brake callipers onto carriers require regular maintenance to keep them in an efficient operating state. I tend to take mine out every year to clean and lubricate them. Having said that even without any attention at all I doubt a pin would break due to corrosion in 4 years or so. Usually they tend to corrode in position such that the calliper can't then slide. Time for a new carrier then.

They're probably embarrassed to show you the pin because the trainee had to grind it off after he rounded the head of the pin Mike |

Don't want to burst your bubble but having had a coil spring fail on his 1 series my son phoned the warranty people to be told it was covered only to have it refused at the dealership because of guess what. letters not necessarily in the right order |

Just a thought, from your pictures it appears the calliper slide pin has corroded itself into position in the calliper carrier and so can neither slide nor be removed. Hence no picture of the pin, they can't get it out. This being the case a new calliper is not required, a new calliper carrier is required.
