Just wish I could prove the pads and sensors are genuine and as delivered from the factory.

I’m still gobsmacked to be treated like that after putting my hard earned into a brand new Range Rover last year..

The below link shows varied reports of L405 brake pad longevity:
http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic38962....brake+pads

Ours is not a high mileage car and is on its 3rd set of pads since new.

Your profile shows you have a 3.0 TDv6. Genuine LR pads, supply only, for the rear are £80/ set. Genuine LR sensor wires are about £20 each. They are straightforward to fit. Even for the warranty you don't need to use a MD.

We've just fitted EBC Greenstuff rear pads (£40/ set). Site sponsor Advanced Factors sell sensor wires for £8.70 incl VAT. Our car is under warranty. EBC pads won't invalidate anything. The warranty doesn't cover brake discs or pads (wear and tear clauses). Bought EBC, not because they were cheaper than genuine LR but because of many reviews explaining how good, less dusty and non squeal they are. Genuine LR pads can suffer squeal, as experienced on our last 3 RR.

Thanks pld118

I’d love to be able to just prove they are the original pads to the Garage.

They must no that it is unlikely I would have had them changed in a year and a half. I also have all the receipts from the same LR garage!

Basically I’ve been called a liar! Censored

Short of taking the wheels off and the pads out (in the hope of finding the white LR part numbers under all the dirt on the back of the pads) , there's no way to tell if they are genuine.

But by the sounds of this dealer, even a video of you removing the parts wouldn't be enough and they'd say you we making it up!

Speaks volumes about the dealer though! Evil or Very Mad

Mike

For what it's worth. My sensor cable is also yellow. I have no reason to believe it is not genuine. I bought the car with 40k kms on it. ----------

Our sensor cable is yellow. It’s not genuine LR, it was supplied by Advanced Factors.

Thanks for the thoughts/feedback everyone.

The thing is I knew brakes were not a warranty item. Tbh, I thought they might just put anti squeal compound on them. What I didn’t expect is them to tell a customer who bought a car from them and who only ever went to them for 2 services that they had somehow gone somewhere else and got aftermarket parts! Just imagine if it was a warranty item...

One thing I can’t understand is that some pretty heavy duty well heeled and famous people drive range rovers. Surely they don’t put up with being treated like this? Where do they ‘have their’ RRs taken to for work? Surely not to monkeys like these..

Sorry but just chipping in, if the pads are original surely the Caliper bolts would be unmarked to show that there had been no disturbance.

Steve.

Pop a post on their social media page... you'll soon get a resolution

I'd also maybe have the pads changed, ask for the old pads back but say you want to watch them being removed, then once confirmed Genuine ask for a refund. You can paypal direct using - www.paypal.me/duckworthparts

I only went to the Pompy dealer once with my previous car as they were convenient to where I worked, and I was not impressed with the way I was treated. This was a number of years ago, doesnt sound like much has changed.
I would be inclined to take a run up the A27 to Harwoods in Chichester. Too many toys, not enough time

I've had two "health checks" done by the dealership within a month and my pads at the front have gained 30% thickness. I'll be putting them up for sale on the forum soon and if anyone has old ones they'd like me to grow just let me know.

Be careful at that rate they'll lock up the brakes and you'll never be able to remove them and your car will be stranded. BMW i3 Electric Car
