Do you have history of previous owners location. The car may well have had a life in a seaside environment or similar. Agueroooooooooo. 93-20

Thanks guys - my car is a single owner car (not ex JLR) in Satorini black and has spent ALL its life here in God’s own county Yorkshire! My wife’s 63 X6 looks like new underneath - not even the slightest sign of surface rust! HELP!!!! |

I have seen brand new Range Rovers driven through waste deep salt / sea water by holidaymakers on several beaches. The rust might not be totally attributable to the vehicle - salt water is the absolute worst thing ever for a vehicle rust and also its electrics 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17 |

But why should we have to do this? Whilst I appreciate that cast iron parts are unlikely to rust through in the near future, if the underbody was protected correctly this shouldn’t have to occur. And with an expensive vehicle in the circa £100K price area, the underside of the FFRR and RRS is quite visible from the rear so it’s somewhat disappointing to observe rust. Would Merc G Wagens look similar ? Aware of the situation, I always wash the underside of the any RR vehicles I’ve owned with a strong hose if I’ve driven on salted roads. Other then that Waxoyl them from new especially Defenders which until manufacture ceased were minimally protected. |
