Headlamp Covers

On my 07 L322 one of the headlamps is less clear than the other, but on closer inspection it looks like there is a Perspex "cover" over the headlamp unit itself?

If that is the case is it something you can buy cheaply and replace or refurb, rather than having to buy the whole headlamp unit?

Philip.

If you're talking about the outside plastic cover, then there was a polishing kit you could buy that removed the fading and yellowing from headlight covers.

Have a look on the auction website for headlight polishing kit.

If it's the actual lens inside the headlamp, then that's a much bigger job as they're sealed.

Hi Thanks, yes as far as I can tell it's the plastic out cover that is tarnished - will have a look on the forum as you have suggested and get it cleaned up!

No fancy polishing kit needed for a quick fix, just some paint restorer compound (e.g. T Cut or Meguairs Ultimate) a cloth and some elbow grease.

I have plastic lenses on my Audi A4 cabriolet, and need to do this once a year ( I use a polisher for the elbow grease) to keep Mr MOT man happy.

For a more serious effort, some 1200/1500 wet and dry, paint restorer, a can of lacquer and some car polish to finish .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink
