if ur removing the tow bar u could put the rear towing eye back on which conceals under neath it and a good location to weld onto or fabricate a bracket to that section

I've got the detachable tow bar on mine and the installer welded an L-shape bracket to the n/s end with the filler attached to that and the hose is then protected from damage by the bracket and also sleeved in convoluted protection.

Rather than welding, if you remove the towbar bolts you could use one of the threaded bolt holes to fix a purpose made bracket securely.
Could be done so the fill point was discreet with most of the bracket never seen behind the offside reflector.

One advantage of having it near the middle of the car is that you can go either side of the pump. Just a thought.

+1 I had it there on my p38 was a addle being able to fill up either side

Hi heres where I put mine, you can barely see it from behind easy to fill from either side and its bolted through one of the existing holes in towbar mount.

Hi guys just to give closure to this topic I finally got around to taking the towbar off and relocating the filling point. In the end I decided to attach a right angled bracket holding the filler to the solid plate that the towbar cross member was attached to.

The filler is now very discreet and this is a much a better option than cutting holes in bumpers so thanks to all of the tips and advice you guys offered. I've attached some pics of how it now looks - your thoughts are welcome.

Is the filler safe where I have placed it? I could move it further away in the bolt hole closer to the bumper which would take it a few more inches away from the back box but would mean the filler was more noticeable from the back of the car? 2004 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 v8 LPG, Java Black, 22' Hawke Alloys, Black Beast

Should be OK there, the filler pipe is connected to a non return valve in the tank, if it should get damaged then you will only get the small amount of gas inside the hose leaking.... Pete

But on LPG horror stories, I had big GMC Van with three tanks, 60 (original tank) and twice 120 liter (new tanks). All new filler hoses when the big tanks were installed. After filling them all up (linked together to the same filler) I noticed some leakage (drops of LPG) underneath.

SWMBO got a bit "upset" and insisted on calling the fire dept. Needless to say they went all out (must have been a quiet time for them ) and the car ended up on a local abandoned Navy airfield for 4 days until it stopped leaking.

Took it to an LPG installer and it ended up being a dual fault.

1. the non return valve on the 60 liter tank (thank goodness not the 120 L tanks) was stuck in open position.
2. one of the new filler hoses had a badly clamped sleeve that allowed the gas to leak out (hoses less than a year old).

Note the filler was behind the license plate and the fire man underneath the car was trying to temporarily clamp the hose sleeve. Prior to this they measured the gas concentration, the leak was slow so no big issues. They still decided to tow it out and used the water to keep the LPG from evaporating too much The tow truck driver was not a happy camper but drove anyway. Police escorted us to the airfield (we followed in my wifes little old Suz Swift ).

Oh and having done some "dodgy" stuff with LPG and quite some work with hydraulics, make sure the connections are tightened properly and well and check for leaks afterwards

mine is very discreet a bracket welded to the towbar armature out of sight but easily filled.
allthough the lpg regulations state the filler should be a certain height above ground level [ cant remember the height without checking but from memory its somthing like 450mm ] which would make the towbar fitments not high enough but who wants holes cut in the bodywork of their fatty !!  1990 3.5 v8 defender

I wonder if one could fit an LPG filler in the petrol filler location like I had on my P38A (below). I haven't been outside to check the filler on the L322.

Our LPG systems use a screw-on ACME thread coupling.
