I’ve been driving exactly the same thing (as an XF Sportsbrake) for the last 8 days. “Mine’s” the silver one:

I'm torn about getting rid of mine. Cannot afford a new shape, so looking at XJ's. Also thrown into the mix which quite surprised me were Bentley Flying Spurs. Get a nice one for shy of £25000. |

I had a 4.2 Xj when i was 17 ( 33 years ago ....... scary ) and its the only sensible option for me if i couldn't have a FFRR. The newer version looks a very nice place to spend some time. 2015 4.4 AB

RM, regards the XJ, something like a 3.0 Portfolio on a 14 plate or similar. I really must stop looking at Flying Spurs

Hi RM, im following your tale and feeling your pain. It was a series 1 , a friends mum had it from new and the family had biught her a new one ( this would be about 1982/3) , the dad wanted it gone and sold it to me very cheap. Apprently she went mad when she found out because she loved the series 1. The jag came with the original order form in the glove box. insurance was in my mums name with me as named driver and i lived in south london !!!!!

@ archermav: It's a funny think when a 3.0 XJ is the "sensible" option!
