Took our 12 year old Labrador Archie to the vet today, but didn’t take him home unfortunately.

Absolutely gutted.

RIP Archie xxx

Thanks Cobstar, I can’t believe how upset I am, Archie was the 4th dog I’ve had, but he was really special.

Wow I feel your pain Embarassed . We had a St Bernard which as you was definitely part of the family. The time came and we had to let him go, I haven't cried like that since our Son was born 24 years ago.

We said we wouldn't get anymore dogs. That lasted 6 weeks and then we got 2.

Steve.

My puppies are now 9 and in my head will live forever. I dread the day when I have to go through what you have had to deal with.
Heartfelt condolences, mainly because I’m such a soft Censored .

Thanks guys for all your messages, much appreciated.

I just can’t believe how upset we all are over the loss of a dog.

We thought that we would get a couple of more years and that we wouldn’t get another, but it was really sudden and the house is so quiet without him so we are looking into getting another.

Really touched by all the comments & surprised to see this in a separate thread as I posted in a general one - thanks Stan (I presume).

Cliff

Feel for your loss

For some of us the emotional bond with a dog as a family member is huge. In my delinquent years I had a German Shepherd - Zoot who was my constant partner, through all trials and tribulations, and more reliable than any of my girl friends at that time....
When I had to put him to sleep due to worsening health , I went through a period of depression and guilt that only the birth of my daughter brought me out off.

My current dog is back in Romania - where I am renting a house for her ( and my best human friends) to live in whilst I am away! expensive kennel but I am happy that he is safe, cared for and has a crazy dog loving 5 year old to play with! And keeps a watchful eye over the Westie in its carcoon.

Remember the happy times... and when the time is right - give a rescue dog a home! Series 2a LWB Hardtop - ex British Aerospace that was then used in an armed robbery! not by me!
2 door V8 1979 Range Rover
A slight Subaru blip..
110 County 200tdi
R reg 300 tdi Discovery Aviemore - gone to a local enthusiast to be resurrected in Transylvania
2003 TD5 Discovery2 - now sold
and the 2 wheeled Range Rover - BMW R 1150GSA

and finally the big lady of my dreams... 2012 Westminster - gives me a smile every morning

So sorry to hear of your loss, dogs give such unconditional love, when they’re gone it’s like ripping your heart out. You must however look at what you’ve had, 12 years of Archie, you were both lucky to have had each other. BMW i3 Electric Car

Meet Monty, our new 8 week old lab.

We picked him up this morning and he seems to be settling in nicely. House also feels more like a home as it’s been much too quiet recently.
