Air suspension fault.

Hello,all,

I have a FF Range Rover 04 plate.

After stupidly updating my air suspension Ecu with my T4 (don’t ask) I now have a front cross link valve fault.

The system was working perfectly before I done this, so I believe I’ve updated it with a older version of the software.

As I believe 04s don’t have a front crosslink valve.

My T4 disk is disk 19 08/2005 DJDOD19.

Suspension ecu number RQT000013 HW20 SW40 week 28 03.

Can anyone help me out with any information how to solve this? I’m guessing I need a later disk.. but can I find one to purchase..!

Thanks in advance.

The 2002 - 2004 Range Rovers do have cross link valves, they are behind the O/S front and rear wheel arch liners.

You will have to find an older disc and roll back what you’ve done as I think the 2005 on used a different method of communication to ecu’s etc. I’d love to know why you wanted to update the ecu..... Thumbs Up ______________________________

Ok, thanks for the reply.

I had only just got the T4 and I was having a play, totally my fault.

Well now I’m totally confused.

I don’t understand how this could of happened, is the disk too new? Surly the system is intelligent enough to work out what each car needs..

When I bought my 2003 4.4 and got it home I was puzzled why the interior light went off when I opened a door and went on when I closed it. There were many other little things that were happening to it like buttons not working or doing something completely the opposite of what it should have.

I bought an IIDtool from GAP and got nowhere, until I contacted GAP, and after many conversations and downloading of software to the car they figured out that a previous owner had taken it somewhere and had all of the cars software updated, quite possibly to a BMW X5.

They uploaded the required software to my IIDtool and talked me through the process of updating everything in one go and I’ve never had a problem since - touch wood Very Happy

But I would say your disc is too new...... ______________________________

Ok interesting..

I guess I need to check if the valve is actually there, I don’t really understand why it was working before and now shows a open circuit fault and now have a air susp inactive message.

I’ve ordered another ecu of the same part number and date and im hoping that fixes it.

Did you disconnect the battery? And did you do the steering full left then full right? ______________________________

Yup.. done all that.

Everything else is fine.

Ive read they removed the front cross link valve on the 04 models and later.. or is this just when they went over to the ford models?

You said they were removed on the 04 model and later ones but they are for sale for 02 to 04/05 and from 05 onwards.

The 02 to 04 were BMW and 05 on were Ford until they changed over to Tata. So I don’t understand why they would remove the 04 on models when 04 were BMW. ______________________________

Well there’s a thing Whistle

At least I’ve learnt something today, but that doesn’t fix your problem.

I would still suggest that you obtain a disc for your year if you can... ______________________________

Well yeah, doesn’t mean it’s correct information tho..

If ive updated with an earlier version of the software than it had/needs then it’s looking for a valve that isn’t there.

That’s my logic anyway.

So does anyone have a disk they could sell me?
