2009 HSE. Infotainment system fault no info

Im having a mare with this car.
The radio/head unit froze on the landrover logo /start up screen on the way to work yesterday. On the way home it kind of started to work.. however....
No 4x4 info ( hight, setting, wheel position)
No trip info - average consumption 1 or 2 blank
Radio stations all gone. Just present numbers & cd doesnt work. Only volume on steering wheel nothing on dash.
No reverse camera.

Everything is clean & dry in the left-hand boot cubby.

Im loosing the will with the car, still got the fuel sender plug mod to do.

Any ideas.. anyone willing to travel to Edinburgh to help me out ?
Thanks guys

sounds like it lost its communication with everything over the MOST bus.
That could be a damaged cable somewhere (anywhere), or one of the connected modules has gone down. Its a repeated ring network, and if any of the modules go down it breaks the ring.

First thing, plug an obd tool in and see what codes are reported, see if you get any clues. Too many toys, not enough time

Hi..
Ive only got a cheap bluetooth odb reader using an app.
The only fault code coming up it.
U0248 - lost communication with the remote.

I cant find a "clone" copy of a laptop diagnostics programme. Had copy programmes for my saab , Vauxhall, ford, merc . All dealer type programmes but cant find one of the range rover.

I appreciate these things aren't cheap but a decent obd tool is money well spent.

I would strongly recommend the autel 802 if you don't want to spend a fortune, and want to do other cars.
These are about £160 and do all makes / models since about 2000.

I know a lot of people swear by the IID tool, but I can't justify the cost when my current tool dies everything but allow me to fiddle with config settings (it might even do that if I knew how to use it fully Laughing )

I may be wrong too. Thinking about it I think info about the terrain response, steering angle, etc are sent over the can bus, not MOST.
I would therefore go wiggling the wiring anywhere that you have had a fiddle. It may be a poor connection, or a wire chafing on something.

Sorry I can't be more help than that. Too many toys, not enough time

By the way, that fault code means it's lost connection with the remote accessory module.
Not sure where this is on your car, but I would start by checking the power / fuses for it, and then the wiring to it.

Check the wiring by the right rear wheel arch, it is apparently common for it be squashed here.

I did a quick search on here and others have reported it's nothing to worry about as it's related to the adventure cam. Too many toys, not enough time

Well..
Met up with another owner today to collect some sidesteps. And mentioned i was having an issue with the car.
Paul has a 52 plate & doesnt have the full touchscreen system.
However.. he does have a snap on system.

Fault was no communication with body control module.

So....
Were is it and is there a separate fuse for the BCM ?
Or if i buy a secondhand unit does it need "married " to my car or is it plug & play?

Help please guys & girls..
Im having a mare with this car.

2009 hse 3.6 tdv8.
Stereo/ info/ touchscreen system not sure what you call it.
(Could be a long description.. sorry )
What i know & whats happening..

Screen did get stuck on the landrover logo, then kind of cleared but takes a while to change, and a while to turn off once car is locked

#Sat nav works.. but no sound, no traffic info
#Radio kind of works.. no tunner info, sometimes just have "preset 1 /2 /3 etc " (no station name)
Volume only works on the steering wheel.
# CD icon there.. but doesn't change from radio to cd
#Aux icon there ... but doesn't change from Radio
#tv icon is greyed over

4x4i button.. no info. Ride hight, wheel position, traction settings all blank

Trip button.. no info. consumption 1 & 2 blank . Range ..blank, temp blank

Setting... the date keeps on reverting to 31/12/2003

#Phone .. phone doesnt work.. i can search for it on my Samsung S8. On mobile phone it says audio connected to LandRover.. but nothing works

#reverse cam... nothing.. beeps to say reverse is engaged and parking sensors front & rear still work.. but nothing on screen.

I am getting trip, range, etc under the speedo. Gear indicator etc all as normal.

The ride hight and traction settings next to the gear stick does light up.

Ive tried the "hidden menu" hack... but it doesn't work. Will not come up with the number pad just changes to Sat nav

Ive bought & tried the MOST bypass thing.. followed the instructions , modual to modual.. no different apart from loosing the sound from whatever radio station im stuck on.

Ive checked all fuses i think are related to the info system in both the front and boot compartment fuse boxes.. none blown.

I did find, maybe by accident 4 fuses (30 or 40amp i think) on the fire wall behind the battery. Also another fuse box, relays and things in a big box at the front left of the engine bay ( left as in standing looking at the engine) but can see any mention of it in the owner handbook.

So.. in short..
WTF is going on!
Pics of the screens fyi

The body control module does lots of functionality, and communicares with the other modules using can bus, so if that wasn't working you would know about it.

The steering wheel controls are connected to the central junction box, which is in turn connected to the audio amp and audio head unit (not the same as the display). That is probably why they still work OK.
I think the head unit is in the dash somewhere, possibly behind the glove box fuses, or under the touch screen.

This is almost certainly a can bus wiring fault and not a bcm fault. All I can suggest is to check the loom, probably at the display end.
If it's not that then it could be the display itself.

Hope that helps. Too many toys, not enough time

Well...

car is all fixed and everything is up and running and displaying what its ment to .

and the fix..

replacement battery !
I had already followed the disconnect & ecu reset ( touch pos & neg together ) and left the car unhooked for 2 hrs.
it made not a jot of a difference.
Someone mentioned the battery looking wrong... and it was.

so ordered & installed a lovely new agm one, locked opened, locked opened tried it and nothing !
Then left it for a couple of hours, while I tried to clear the bolt holes for my side steps.

jumped in to move it.. TAAADAAA.. all working again !

battery not cheap, but cheaper than an auto spark or indi to look over it.
