New 5.0 Supercharger

Dear all not been on here a while Very Happy

Ordered a new range rover 5.0 supercharge, anyway the car arrived last month,
been away on holiday and went to see it last week

i asked the dealer if i can collect it on the 1st for the new reg 68 plate, he has told me the car has to be registered this month
because of the new emission for the 1st september all new cars have to have this certificate for registration and this car
does not have it Crying or Very sad

just asking is there a lot of value difference from a 18plate to a 68 plated car in the
future

Maybe up to £5k is my guess. But the 5.0sc are so rare that they seem to hold their value well, and I guess it’s a moot point if it has to be registered (else scrapped?!) this month. Perhaps the difference relates to the GPF (gasoline particulate filter) fitted now and your MY18 doesn’t have one? Power is up to 518BHP on MY19? That must be the engine they have put through the emissions testing?

Sounds odd to me - more likely they want to hit a sales target.

I’d ask whether the car can get a certificate.

Just because it doesn’t have one, shouldn’t mean one can’t be obtained

If it’s a MY19 it would seem strange that the end of this month is the last time they can sell them.......

they said it would be better for them to have had it registered in september for there numbers, but it would not pass
the registration Shocked

they said if i dont want the car they will have to register it as there demo

Hasn’t been through the WLTP emissions testing process, so if it was built after June 1st this year, it will have to be registered before 1st September. No way around it as far as I’m aware.

But MY19 HAS been through WLTP emissions testing. Must have, right? I can believe the bureaucratic hurdle. I’m just slightly miffed why it cannot be solved.

As for preferring a September registration date that MIGHT be true if August is already a write off due to low registration volumes or target already met.

I’d call Land Rover, it light yield something.

If they'd completed WLTP testing, this wouldn't be an issue - it's not the only one i've heard of which needs to be registered before 1st September.

yes thats what he mentioned the WLTP emission testing Embarassed

so it will have to just be Smile

Looking forward to it now i suppose, has any one just picked up the new 525bhp engine car and
is there a lot of difference on performance to the old one?

If it were me, i would stick a private reg on it and no one will know, it wont change the fact its a 18 MY, as even a 1st Sept reg wouldn't make it a 19 MY, and I would be amazed if it has too much affect on price if any. So enjoy it you will be very pleased with the supercharged engine. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

As Dr F says, I don't think it will make much of a price diff overall on the other side. Whats the spec options that are different then when ordering s SC?

Looking forward to the pic as the colour combo is a spec I quite liked too. Is Vintage Tan that new tan colour?

Parkers might not be the most accurate data source for used values, but it provides an indicative price diff between the two plates. Looking at 2017 cars we can see it's about £6k. Factor in a care being a very late 17 plate, like mid-Aug, and the gap will close down a bit but a 67 plate will always be worth more on a like for like spec/condition/mileage. 2018 / 18 and 2018 / 68 would be no different.

2017 / 17 plate:
Franchised Dealer: £81,440
Private Good: £78,090
Part Exchange: £74,905

2017/67 plate:
Franchised Dealer: £88,010
Private Good: £84,565
Part Exchange: £81,280


But it's only money! And the cost of waiting 6 months for a new 68 plate to be built is not worth it, right? And you can pretend 18 is your age (rather than 68 being your age). It all adds up to accepting the car. Thumbs Up

If you didn't get much discount on the original order now might be the time to screw the dealer for something. After all, not being given the option to register in Sept is very limiting and if they have to register it they will lose a packet on it.

If you did a deal for a MY19 and it turns out they are supplying a MY18, then it’s definitely time for a price conversation.

If you walk away, then they register it, what would it be worth ?
