Leather Dyeing and Restoration

Several topics floating about the forum on how to restore and repair the leather seats, etc. on our FFRR's.

Found this two part article in a classic car club magazine, done by a DIY guru of the marque, using Furniture Clinic products (who appear to already colour match FFRR interiors), thought it may be a useful addition to the discussion.

2002 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Alveston Red

I did restoration in the past using products from Liquid Leather who unfortunately have now ceased trading.

It's real easy to do. You can't really go wrong. I've got some gear on order from Furniture Clinic as i plan to do the front of the L322.

Here's a couple of pictures from when i restored the steering wheel and door pull on my old P38.

Just received an order from furniture clinic who do the Range Rover colours.

I ordered charcoal which is colour code LYR and I've just tried it on a spare cubby box lid I have.

Bit disappointed as I expected an almost perfect match given that they advertise the specific factory colours. This is a few shades away. Yes I did shake it. Anyone else bought some?

As my good wife has pointed out, perhaps the colour they supply was the colour in the car when it was new and before sun bleaching and wear has occured. I understand that but it seems a bit pointless to advertise the specific colours if they are not a match for repairs. To sum up, if a perfect match is required i'd probably suggest sending a sample of your leather to them rather than buying off the peg.
