Fuel sender calibration

Hi

Do the fuel senders and fuel gauge need calibration when either are replaced?

I had my senders replaced last November by the local stealers as one had failed. I don't normally neck the tank as I only really use the rangie once a week. However I have recently needed to travel to Edinburgh so filled the tank (necked it)

After about 20 miles I noticed the gauge was visibly under full and after running the tank down to 10 miles range it only took 90 litres and I got about 50 miles less out of the tank than I expected.

It seems to me that the senders were not calibrated correctly to the gauge when replaced. Before I go and tell the stealer to fix it. can the senders and guage be calibrated? 56 TDV8 Vogue SE
