engine degreasers

Hi all,
My car has sprung an oil leak somewhere. The under tray has oil on it.
I have removed it and can see traces of oil in various places, but want to clean it off so I can see where it's coming from.
It's not the usual oil cooler / o ring leak, I've already checked for those. It appears to be from the front somewhere.

What's the best engine degreaser, and given that room to get in there is very limited, how best to apply it?

Cheers,
John. Too many toys, not enough time

Gunk is good.
Apply it with a paintbrush. Leave it and hose it off.

John I've got an unfound leak too.

So I was trying to figure out the best way to find the culprit.

I found there are these UV dye oil additives.

They work a bit like this:

- Clean the engine
- Add the UV dye
- Give it a good run
- Then inspect using a UV light

Saw some vids on YouTube. It's what I'll do once I get a few other jobs out the way.

Cheers,

There are many out there, here's one:

Comes with a torch too.

Let me know what you think. Cheers, Greg

Thanks guys. Thumbs Up
I have used gunk, just wondered if things had moved on and there was anything better.

Trying to get in to the areas with a brush would be a challenge, so I have bought some gunk in a spray bottle, and also some foaming cleaner.
We shall see how it goes.

Havent done it yet as its chucking it down here now. It seems like it is near side front. There is misted oil below what I assume is the maf or throttle body (which doesn't look like a very tight fit).

I might have to drop the front to get a decent look.

Thanks for the suggestion of the uv dye, I hadn't considered that Thumbs Up Too many toys, not enough time

Jizer was always good degreaser, Gunk is good stuff but smells awful and the smell stays for ages. David

Please let me know if my comments upset you, I may wish to upset you again.
