I’ve just been quoted £790 for a 5 year service for my L405 SDV8. When I asked what was involved the service rep stated an oil and filter change plus fluid checks, pollen filter etc. When I stated that I’d already undertaken an oil and filter change in the last 5 weeks she stated that there wasn’t much else to complete and advised that I just have a summer check as this would cover the outstanding tasks. The price quoted for a summer check was £29.95! That appears to make the oil and change a £760 pound item! What are they using, liquid gold! 2019 L405 SDV8 Autobiography

They should also change transfer box oil and replace the Dynamic Response filter.

Summer check is just a gimmick, really, checking wiper blades and such. Which is also part of the 5 years service, actually!

But a summer check is no substitute for a service in terms of maintaining the vehicle's service history.

I used to have an LR spec sheet/ checklist which showed which service and what parts were replaced etc for my old D4. Is there such a thing for the FFRR SDV8?

These are the service sheets for a 2011 4.4 tdV8 (L322)

But I am not confident if you book an Inspection 1 or 2 Service it will include the extra items listed when the car reaches 5yrs unless the extras are specifically requested and paid for as extras.

I am sure that the equivalent sheets will be available for L 405’s.

It is about time a group of owners get together and download the L405 workshop Manual from Topix like we did for 2011/12 model L322’s.

The service sheets will be in there plus everything else you need to know.

It is a couple of years since we did it but a 24 hour subscription to Topix was £17 +vat = £20.

Further to my original post...I've rung the dealer again to confirm what's included in a 5 year service and expressed my concern that I'd be missing some items if I only had the Summer Checkundertaken. They checked the service schedule and the only item missing would be Pollen filter change so I asked for that to be added to the scheduled work.

Depending on the cost of the Pollen filter it still makes the Oil & filter change hugely expensive given that I had it completed by my local non-franchised garage for £85.00 plus VAT 2019 L405 SDV8 Autobiography

I would be asking my local indi which oil he has put in.
Opie Oils is just about the cheapest source available, but even with the forum discount plus the price of the filter he didn’t make much profit.
