Tyres on the Drive

Hello! I'm thinking about using Tyres on the Drive to fit a pair of Pirelli Scorpions to my FF. I wondered if anyone here had used them and if experiences were generally ok? Also if anyone is aware of any discount codes? Thanks in advance. Thumbs Up

I've used them a couple of times and they were okay however last time I used them they fitted the wrong tyres to my wife's car. Fortunately she noticed before they left (they'd handed her the keys back - not much of an inspection) and pointed it out to them.

"Censored" he says, "that means I've fitted yours on my last job". He whips them off again and says "I'll be back in a bit" proposing to take the tyres off the other car and refit them to my wife's car. She's not sure about this so checks with me.

In my mind they're no longer "new tyres" as they've been fitted once and we don't even know if they've been driven. So when he comes back we refuse without some sort of discount. After a bit of messing about with their head office, they offered the most ridiculously low amount so we told them to forget it and put the old ones back on which they duly did.

Personally I wouldn't use them again. She got a really good deal at a local fitters by phoning around. I got a really good deal on Scorpions at Asda Tyres. They still have them at £127 for 19" which is a good price (better than Tyres on the Drive I think?). 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Thanks MikeO -that's concerning!

Mine are 20" and £181.99 each from TOTD or £176.26 from Asda (they don't appear to be doing their 10% discount any longer).

I suppose its down to the particular fitter at the time really - always a bit of a worry, I find as I worry about them gouging the wheels.

'll carry on looking!

I've bought tyres from https://www.camskill.co.uk/ before. My local tyre man is happy to fit, balance and valve them for a reasonable fee.

Hi. I had four Pirelli Scorpions fitted by F1 Autocentres about a year ago. They were by far the lowest price I could find. Currently 255 50 20 109Y XLs are £175.80 fully fitted inc.

Thanks Classic888 - that is cheaper than Ive found (£176) but for a fiver more each, Tyres on the Drive will come to me, so seems like a good idea.

.. I opted for F1 because if you order online they offer a free wheel alignment check. Only charging for adjustment.

I buy my tyres from who ever can supply the the brand I opt for the cheapest at the time, Tyreleader usually come out on top but I have used camskill and blackcircles in the past.

Get them delivered to my home and then use a local tyre on the drive guy. I've since learnt that my local tip accept tyres so I'll save a few more quid on the next set of boots Very Happy

PS
tyres on the drive price was well over a grand for the 4 bridgestones I've just had put on my 911, tyreleader + my local guy came in at just under £700. Current

used Tyres on the Drive and they failed to balance the wheels properly so I incurred extra cost getting them done properly. they did offer to rectify the issue but in my mind failed on quality of workmanship first time around so weren't getting a second chance. YMMV

Thought I'd report back as, despite the mixed reviews on here I gave Tyres on the Drive a go and cant fault them.

I paid £1.99 more per tyre than I could get them for elsewhere, but carried on working whilst the bloke fitted them and didn't have to lose a Saturday morning in the tyre fitters. Definitely the way forward! Thumbs Up

Balancing OK ?

The tyre place I use have a van as well, but say they wouldn’t want to balance mine with their mobile machine.
