Planning on changing my diff oils 2006 spec V8 AJ petrol. Normal Diff (ie not electric) & in preparation I'm ordering the drain & fill plugs. (Drain plug is TYB500110, but nothing found on Microcat for the rear fill plug ).
Now I know this sounds a bit daft, but struggling to find the part No for the Rear fill plug & it's position on the diff. From what I can see (bearing mind it's difficult to see at the moment) it appears to be sat on the OS half way up the housing, very small possibly only a 10 mm bung.

I will raise it up to off road height to get a better look where it is, but would appreciate any further information to enable me to obtain the fill plug,

Just done mine but not sure. Neither is Dan because when (if) you order from Duckworths, you may get the wrong one like me and one other chap.

Just a watch out really.

Why change the diff plug? In over 55 years of driving and maintaining cars, I've never need to replace a diff plug. Ron B. VK2OTC

No magnets on the filler plug, and I also have never replaced one. when putin plugs back in use some plumbers teflon tape.

Thanks for the reply guys. Yes if it comes out ok then I can put it back in, however it's pretty rusty under there & for the cost of these I'll like to replace it or at least have a new one handy.

Still unable to locate any part No, diff appears to be the same as the sport/ super charged & Disco 3 models.

I hadn't thought about rust - it's not something that comes to mind here - Land Rovers have an in-built rust prventative system.  Ron B. VK2OTC

Rear diff filler plug i believe is LR054727 size M10x25
drain plug rear new part number 8510276

your plug part number is for 2007 onwards TYP000220 & TYB500110 are both listed description drain plug

Thanks Lounge_on_wheels. That sure looks like it from what I can see (Obviously it's Not been out for a long time as heavily corroded).

UPDATE:- Still struggling to find this plug & remove the old one FTC5431 or TYB500110 is too big (21 mm ).
The rusted / seized one is approx 16 mm with a 8 mm hex. By the way this has now rounded off! & a nightmare to get to.

I will try & hammer a slightly larger alen key in, but if this doesn't work do I weld a bolt on?. Drill out & retap to the larger bung. Change the diff?????????.

Has anyone filled the diff via the breather?. look at this diff on ebay item No eBay Item No. 302814540808 (similar fill plug).

Can you get a cold chisel on it to get it going round ? .

if you gonna bang something in, try Torx bit, oversized, it will have more grip, or cut a groove in the bolt with dremel like tool and use screwdriver with wrench.
