Any ideas please ?
I had all of the park brake mechanism off on 1 side while changing hub bushes.
When checking something unrelated inside the car, I stupidly managed to pull the handbrake lever on while the ignition was on.
The EPB seems to have pulled the cable right in on the side with the parking brake parts not in place & I now can't seem to get it out.
I've tried the IID Tool "Unjam" procedure, but it doesn't appear to generate any spare cable movement.

What do I need to do to get the cable back out to attaché the park brake mechanism ?

in all probability the unit is now jammed, and if properly jammed then the unjam procedure will not loosen things all the time.

Your best bet is removing the entire parking brake mechanism, opening the unit, and manually releasing the jam. I just finished removing and repairing mine but in my case the motor itself had burnt out. Its a lengthy job, you need 4 jackstands, removal of the entire exhaust system, lowering of the rear subframe to get to the module itself, no other way on the L322 unfortunately.. I did do a writeup on the removal process on a local forum, I can include a link if allowed, the mechanical jam release procedure is pretty well documented for D3/4 & RRS which will be the same for the 322, its just the removal of the module from the 322 that is poorly documented..

I think I'm sorted - thanks for the inputs !
I tried the unjam procedure a few times with no luck.

From the info online, it looked like the only option was to get to the epb mechanism & take it apart - as stated by marcochezzi.
However, I did find reference to the emergency manual release & thought I'd got nothing to lose by pulling it.
BINGO, the cable extended back out on the effected side & the park brake shoes inwards.

The disc would now fit again (it wouldn't go over the shoes earlier by a large amount).
The first time I used the park brake again, it made a horrible shrieking noise, but seemed to apply (might be the re-setting process after manual release , mentioned elsewhere?).
Releasing & re-applying, it was quiet & seemed OK - well clamped into the disc.
I think I'm still getting an epb warning message, but haven't driven the car yet or re-used the IID tool again.

northernmonkeyjones, thanks for the prompt about the manual release.
I'd seen on the Disco 3 /Disco 4 forums that people had real problems finding it & then using it on Discos , but no comments ref RRs.
Many appeared to say it didn't work, so I wasn't hopeful.
However in the L322, it's easily found in the recess behind the removable panel on the right hand side of the boot . It's a wire loop, sticking out through some carpet trim, on the rear of the wheel arch at the same height as the rear fuse box.
I put a large screwdriver blade through the loop & pulled. It moved maybe an inch outwards & you could hear a slight "thunk" under the floor & the handbrake shoes moving.
The workshop manual reference I found suggested a force of approx 45 pounds, but I think it was less I needed, not that heavy a pull.

After driving the car, the warning messages about Park Brake failure stopped.
Problem over & lesson learnt for when I work on the RHS suspension next week.
