They don't fold flat as such - the seat backs fold over the bases, so there's a lip and then the seat back is at an angle.

so is the result similar to L322 manual rear seats?

No - My L322 seats went flatter as once the back was lowered, the whole thing rolled forward again - the L405 doesn't do the second part. So feels like the load space is longer, but not so flat |

Another feature of the L405 is that you can fold down just the centre seat - so for skis or similar, quite a lot better than the L322 |
