Removing dent from tin tent

Whilst mowing lawns other day, mower threw up a small stone which struck the side of the TT.
It's only a small dent, but it's gone down to the metal underneath, and it's right at eye level, and very noticeable.
Can these sort of dents be removed from a van?
I've had a look on various web sites, and there seems to be conflicting views Shocked
The van is a 2017 Lunar.
Any suggestions chaps?

Anything is possible, but depends where it is etc - may need an entire panel replacing.

It’s a specialist job to get done right

Assume you can’t just put a sticker over it Whistle

I had one, admittedly lower, and put a self adhesive amber side reflector/marker over it that matched the other factory ones
Otherwise maybe talk to one of those mobile dent removal companies, which is probably what a caravan dealer does!

I think the main problem with a caravan, unlike a car is that you can't get behind the panel to push the dent out.

Knocking dents out from the inside are long gone, if its that bad it panel replacement.
You need to avoid stretching the material.
Small Dents are pulled.
See a gadget that uses glue here

I think spot welding pull guns are a common approach, Ed on wheeler dealers had one on an episode. but of course wouldn't work on Ali.

I think these dent removal companies now have some very specialist tools, although I have see it done by rubbing with a spoon. Not sure how that works apart from locally heating the metal to pop it back! Did Ed China have somebody do that on the DeLorean?

Best wishes

Nope, is the answer.

You can’t tac weld something to it as the sides are aluminium, and would blow through in a second if you tried to weld to it. The only real way would be to fill and paint it.

Depending on how handy you are with a rattle can and if you can get the paint code it’s a doable diy job. No harder than filling and sanding a car panel. The problem will be that the ally deforms so much on impact that pulling it with a sucker isn’t really going to do much.

Or you could just touch it up, wait until the panel goes damp somewhere and get lunar to replace it..... it is a lunar after all, better though they are now, mine 2 Lunars have both sprung leaks.... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Funny you should mention that nmj, this is the first Lunar van we've had, and guess what ? It leaks Embarassed
Water ingress under both wheel arches Embarassed
That along with, pitted cupboard door handles, and heated towel rail. Kitchen cuboard collapsed. Main blind gone north. Faulty Sargeant alarm. Broken external gas point cover, and the van doesn't recognise when ff has been removed and mains electric connected.
Other than that it's been a good buy for 28 grand, not!
Dealer says it could take up to 10 weeks for Lunar to authorise warranty work Banging Head
Then I go and ting it with the mower Embarassed
Be the first and last Lunar I buy.
We're still waiting for a reply from them Censored

Seems to be the way of things. The big manufacturers are trying to compete on water ingress warranty length but have yet to actually figure out how to stop them leaking.

There will be a caravan repair workshop near you somewhere. I’ve got one near me who have done work on both my vans, one when I cracked the rear panel and one where I had some serious damp in a corner locker. It can be fixed, you just need to hunt out the chaps who can do it.

As you are in Notts I think there are a couple more local to you from memory Than the derby one. Quick google pulled up these chaps..... http://caravansurgeon.co.uk/caravan-dent-repairs/ never used them but might offer what you are looking for. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Cheers nmj
Been onto a caravan service/repair shop in Cresswell, North Derbyshire who I've used before for servicing vans.
They can sort the dent out.
We've had a reply from Lunar today expressing their regret at the problems we've had with the van, and they will hurry up the warranty claim.
They endeavour to produce quality vans etc blah, blah, blah.....
Once it's sorted, it's gone Rolling Eyes

Speaking of Leaky..... woke up this morning to child No1 complaining that their duvet was wet. Bleeding Heki light is leaking.....Again.

So off I trek to the nearest caravan shop for some mastic, which they did have but was marginal on sell by date.....

The mastic on the roof light had hardened and started to leak even though it was only 3 years since I last did it.. Fortunately the frame lifted out easily, unfortunately in my frustation to get started because it wouldn’t stop raining and dripping in, I managed to break the dome... who’d have thunk domes were so rare and expensive. £200 for a new bit of plastic and I will have to order one.

So off I trek to Screwfix for a tube of Epoxy 2 pac. Glued it back together, re bedded the frame, re installed everything and all being well we will be leak free for another few years.!!

Only 1 day of holiday wasted ,some strange looks from other folks on the site as I was standing with my head on shoulders out of the van for half the day..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Aluminium dent repairs are getting better now that some cars are made from aluminium. There are a few YouTube videos showing someone removing dents from a Bentley tailgate and a Maserati door. Only problem as has been said is getting behind it as caravans have insulation.
