United Kingdom 2017 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Aintree Green

It seems that way for the oldest generation - Prince Philip still drives a Freelander 2, while the Queen still has her green X-Type.

All the others seem to be happy to take the "product placement" cars from JLR. It's interesting that, with the demise of the proper Discovery 4, the security services seem to have moved on the the Full Fat instead.

That's no ordinary production L322 either. Judging by the thickness around the window surrounds it's the armoured version. Whistle Whistle

It actually looks to be a regular one. Armored would have way thicker a-pillars. 07 3.6 TDV8 Vogue

And wouldn’t have the original “Range Rover” branding on the glass either.

You’ve got to hand it to them, they do take chances with their own safety to be seen to not detach themselves.

Compare that to what Trump will be carried around while his in the UK; the glass is likely to almost as thick as the individual in the back seat...

Don’t be daft if the glass was that thick even that massive V8 truck engine wouldn’t move the wagon Laughing David

Yes, compare that to Polish President’s L322, look at the amount of armouring added.

I’m finding myself warming to QE.

She uses old Jaguars and Land Rovers, there’s nothing flash, it’s all classy and not extravagant and takes one of the new JLR product placement cars only when people like the Obama’s drop round for a coffee.

While she has a (16 year old) VW Bentley limo for state purposes, it’s hardly seen and I couldn’t imagine her turning up in something crass and tacky, like one of the Cullinans or one of the VW Q7/Bentega’s

She and her family take huge personal risk and don’t ponce about in armoured cars.

I do wonder if we’d be able to see her if she were to get the short straw and ride in the back of one of the D5’s, we might just get to see the hat...
