Seized ball joints

Hi folks,

So following the dreaded front suspension knock I ordered a kit with all suspension arms and ball joints... started the job this morning. Got the nuts unbolted fine but the ball joints on the hub and the front arm wont move and are seized.

I have tried everything.. got two type of tools.. Ball joint splitter and hammer didn't do the job.. to make matters worse.. the torx head of one of the screws that holds the hub ball joint in place has slipped and wont unscrew. Got the other screw off no problem.

Can someone please advise what my option are? Do i need a new hub as the screw head for the ball joint in the hub has slipped.. spent about 4 hours and had no joy..There are some hub on Fleabay.. however I have no idea whether the hub bearing would be in a good condition or not...

The guides and videos looked pretty easy.. I forgot we live in the UK and the climate seizes everything lol.. wish I had not started it now..

Use a bigger hammer? You can get hydraulic ball joint splitters? Maybe try heating it up.

Yeah I was thinking of getting a good hammer.. so far wasted £30 getting types of splitters and none of them worked.

Even then if I do get them out.. what would I be able to do with the rounded head T50 Torx.. feel like crying.. lol Current:

So sounds like a hub out job.. plus where would I get the oxyacetelene? Thinking might be cheaper to get a replacement hub Current:

Then you have the same issue when replacing ball joints in the replacement hub...

Local garage would help out with heat torch for a few pounds if you get the hub off.

Thanks.. that's a good shout..

I will take it off and at the same time ask them to press the new ball joint in..

I've never taken the hub off before. Will take the camper, the disc and the dust shield off. And with everything off all I see is the and sensor and 2 bolts on the strut...

Are there any do's and donts? Do i need to be careful of something as its an air suspension setup?

Driveshaft can be a right Censored to get out

Cv joint is tapered, as is the drive flange. The further in it goes, the tighter it is to come out again. There is an LR special tool, but is best part of £800...

I have had 20 ton presses struggle to get them out in the past...

And the same issue to get the shaft back in again. Doesn’t even come through far enough to get the nut on the threads and pull it in

I thought it would be easy.. drive shaft bolt out and pull.. what Do i do now? Current:

I have all the tools.. just not got a decent torch. Would have been gr8 if I had access to a ramp.

So taking the shaft out should be ok with the big puller I have. Any tips of get the shaft back in when its all done?

Also.. what size is the drive shaft nut? Current:
