They have had chance to fix yours, they have not done it so just register your intent to reject with the dealer and customer care and get the car returned as the obviously have no interest in fixing it!

Best advice Thumbs Up

From other threads, some of these problems are very hard to diagnose and the car will spend a lot of it's life with the dealer until you give up and live with it or sell it at a loss.

One more chance to sort it or reject is probably the best way to go here

Legally they only get one opportunity to rectify a problem so you don't need to give them another opportunity

It's clearly a drive-train related issue as it only happens at certain speeds and not when in neutral.

If you'd discovered the issue before you bought it then I'm sure you'd have walked away. Now is no different.

As others have said, the dealers know it has an issue so explain clearly to them that you are rejecting the vehicle as that is the best way to protect yourself and sends a very clear message to the dealer and JLR that you're not going to be messed around or fobbed off.

If you do reject it please post details of the vehicle on here so that the dealer doesn't just re-list for sale and try and shift it on to someone else without fixing it.

I certainly will.

it was very well discounted and I negotiated more on top of that too... so they will be taking quite a hit I would imagine...now 2 owners and a plate change all in 4 weeks.

Surely cheaper to fix?...maybe this is just a soft push on me, to see if I'll just drive off quietly with the car.

Thank you to everyone who has replied on here.

I have notes and a plan of action .

Gary

Good luck Gary

It does seem that there are still a lot of MY17 cars that dealers are trying to shift at decent discounts so even if you have to walk away hopefully you can find yourself another.

If I had the cash I'd be looking at a MY17 myself as they are just such a good deal at the moment. 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey

update time!

No...its not been returned.

It is still at the Dealers whilst JLR have then jump through all the diagnostic hoops...obviously my bleary eyed response to their 'feature of the car' has left them with the headache of me potentially rejecting it so best to sort it. Or attempt to.

To this end the dealer loan car 2018 L494 AB is now a factory plated 2018/67 L405 AB so no complaints there

Many hours of diagnostics, audio recording, video, and written reports have not revealed a simple solution and a specialist from the factory has been requested to visit and see whats what.

It appears that its pot-luck. You either get a good's or you get a more faulted one.

Frustrating for all, except I feel, the manufacturer.

May I take it that the factory loaner doesn’t have any trace of the same noise (despite the talk of “feature of the car”)?

I’ve only ever had one serious problem with one of by LR’s and I found that as long as you’re patient, polite (but firm!) then they can be very helpful. Here’s hoping that your patience is rewarded Thumbs Up

We are still polite and patient....as we enter a sixth week of car with the dealership.
It's not their fault, no...JLR should have a handle.on this and somewhat quicker you would anticipate but no.
New loaner is a 2017 67 L405 AB with factory plates so maybe the manufacturer has relieved the dealership of the burden of loaning me on a like-for-like...so others may wush to make a mental note of this.
Update is that a differential tech from solihull is due to visit the cat
I rather think this will all end up with me recovering my cheque and heading to a manufacturer that can actually engineer a car. Lets hope not...Above and Beyond !!!!

Actually, I didn't mean that to sound the way it did now that I read it again Sorry, I didn't mean to suggest that you'd be anything less! Very Happy

After all this time, you really deserve for this to end well Thumbs Up

I read you as intended my friend.
I have driven 3 of these 67 plate cars all 2018 regd with the identical fault....so hey!! It's a feature!!

I wonder how many others have voiced this and returned the car for dealer assistance.

What now though? Find a silent one if all else fails...I do so like the silicon silver with black pack...unlikely.ill.find another.

Whatever the outcome if its a MY17.5 onwards TDV6 3.0 you'll then have the dreaded oil dilution issue with service light every 4-5000 miles to deal with, when you can get an appointment to get it looked at.......
If you've reported the issue within 6 months you can go for a hand back did you use Black Horse finance or any other finance by chance as they will have a responsibility to get a satisfactory conclusion for you?

Paul Journey started in a LR2B at 16 and has incl. just about every Land Rover, Disco, RRS and Range Rover Vehicle owned or driven, I even worked for the company when it was owned by BAe - It must be a madness!!! because to add to my 4.4 TDV8 Westminister In Baltic Blue I bought a second L322 as a commuter bus, TD6 2004 Vogue in Oslo Blue with cream leather now both gone replaced with what could turn out to be my biggest mistake. Week 8....still no car on the horizon.
Test drove GLE Coupe Benz at the weekend, and the new Cayenne V6. Cayenne platform exquisite. Steering and braking class leading now.
I'd still not buy either. So...i eventually receive back my Vogue or its back to Bentley for another Gt (v8 this time) regardless of gas-powered infotainment.
