M1 A1 is the most direct, but then it gets a bit sketchy north of Newcastle, M74 way is further but has a shorter 2 lane section

Ripley castle just north of Harrogate. You can always pop into Harrogate for a steam room experience then tea at Betty’s!

I would avoid the M6 route during peak times around Soke/ Manchester section.

You could consider the Devonshire Arms at Bolton Abbey or Cavendish Hotel at Baslow (near Chatsworth), both operated by Devonshire Estates. Only Range Rovers since 1988 |
