Yes, quite a few around, pretty much all in black, grey or white. Not a very imaginative colour palette! Mainly the AMG V8 ones, although I did see a 350 diesel somewhere around last week.

A few G's around and I pulled up behind the freighter GL version tonight as it happens. But they're no FF - there's more FF's in black alone in central London than G's. FF's are as common a Transits and black cabs here and the royals drive around in them for the camouflage effect, just so they blend in from a security POV! Those G-Wagon guys would had a FF if they could, I guess they need to work just a little bit harder Cheers, Greg

Have you not seen how much a decent AMG G Wagon costs these days......... Not sure about their drivers wanting a FF... Most could move to a FF and have a big pot left over sir |

I'm just not into Mercs as you may have gathered! I did get limo'd in a GL and it just felt like a giant C or E-Class. Very nice but I find all the Germans suffer from their consistent design approach across their ranges meaning whether you sit in a C, E, S, ML etc - they all feel the same which equals pretty boring in my opinion. Same for BMW and Audis. Jump in a FF and it feels so special. I guess as the Range Rover range expands they may possibly suffer the same fate.

Just had a look on AutoTrader for G-Wagen and set it to 'Show most expensive first' - there's a dealer in Mayfair selling a G63 5.5 AMG 4x4 (according to the title) for just £725,000, and there's umpteen pictures of a black 6x6 with a fairly impressive spec list. At the other end of the scale, even an 88 F reg goes for just under £15,000.

not to be contrarian but I'd like a forced induction G wagon for off-roading. 1) you lose 3% of power for every 1k feet 2) big tires, rock sliders, brush bar, winches all weigh quite a lot.

not the biggest fan of electric cars (although the drivers area in tesla are emf shielded) but 0-60 in 2 seconds is fantastic. OffRoadRover.com An American Western Range Rover Off Road Blog |
