Who do you insure with?

Hi All,

Was very active on the forum about 4yrs ago when I bought my 3.6 TDV8.

Now looking to sell it and get an L405.

However - I have a question - who do you insure your L405 with?

I've been amazed by the difference in cost between my l322 (650 quid) - we live in london and it's parked on street - and an l405 (value I put in was 60k) for which a moneysupermarket trawl was throwing up quotes of £2k and up.

Only positive was that a 5.0 SC was the same price as an SDV8 which made me happy.

Any one found any places particularly good value?

Cheers!

NFU, covers everything including off road use, towing and loan cars - everything included and all at no extra cost. Not the cheapest but in my experience one of the best. We Have a fleet car policy and also insure other plant, equipment, property, domestic / household and guns with them. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

I use Hastings direct - only paid an extra £90 to go from a £6k L322 to a £60k L405. I’m not in London though

Cool - keep 'em coming! Will def check out hastings.

I wish I could pretend as I was anywhere near my Dad's farm - I sued to insure with NFU then and it was dirt cheap..

Bigglez it's a postcode lottery. I'm in central London and renewed with Aviva.

Can't find my post from Feb when it was renew time but I listed out all the companies I got quotes from. I gave it some good research too, not really using comparison sites which are all rigged (google who owns them) but I went wide, gave my details to way too many people ( I'm sure Cambridge Analytica now know all about me).

Aviva tried to hike my renewal too but I pushed back and got it for I think a tenner cheaper than last year and that was with a decent no fault claim in my first year.

But you can't beat legwork.

. Cheers, Greg

Hi, I use NFU for the P38 and the 405, but Mr Vogue, would you mind telling me how you did get a fleet policy, please?
I asked them and the young man said it was not something they offered. I have two more cars I could add to the policy - I gather 3 or 4 is a fleet, isn't it?

My L405 costs about £600 with AXA. Installing a tracker saved about 30% if I remember correctly.

NFU here too, by far the best standard of cover and the cheapest cost, with a local office to talk to too. However, it’s completely dependent on having a rural postcode for the price to be right. You may have a problem there Sad

You WILL need a tracker to bring the price down.

I ended up with Admiral for my 2011 5.0 S/C, which in central London on a driveway came to £900. Even that was after an awful lot of hunting around, comparisons, phoning smaller specialists, etc.

Putting the same car at my family home in Dorset was £450 without even trying! But it currently does spend most of it's time in London, so I paid the extra.

Aviva were good for me - but have just switched to SAGA as I've hit 50 and they do unlimited European cover - which is worth a lot to me - all the other companies seemed to limit to 30 or 90 days per trip.

Another vote here for A Plan at Thatcham. We all know insurance is a minefield, these guys were good at talking me through it all. Headline price on line might be cheap, but are you (for example) forced to use their approved repair network or can you take it to the main dealer for fixing....what about excess levels, and so on...

I have no association with A Plan other than as a very happy customer.
