Adaptive headlight setting

Good morning can anyone please tell me when you are having the beam set on the adaptive lights do you need the engine running so the car has done it’s calibration dance or do you just have the ignition on only reason I am asking is the other day I took it to a mot center to have the beam set and now on a night it looks a lot lower and I cannot see as far as I could before cheers

engine running and steering wheel straight..

the FF head lights do tend to 'beam' quite low so many adjust the beam height a little higher.. ... - .- -.
