Gearbox clonking when cold!!

Looking for some help. I’ve had my 2013 sdv8 for 3months and I’m loving it apart from this one problem. When the jeeps been sitting for 3 hours or more (when cold) the 1st gear change the gearbox makes is accompanied with a clonk/bang coming from towards the rear of the car, for me it sounds like the diff is locking but not sure. I have tried in manual mode which is the same and also tried taking it out of auto special programmes and setting it in road but no matter what I do the 1st gear change is very rough. This has really only started this past week, although i did have a similar instance 2 months ago when the vehicle was warm but this only happened twice but now it happens all the time but only when cold and on the 1st gear change, anyone have any ideas??

Maybe the same as the Gruute thread "central diff locking at < 7 degrees' lower down on this page? (He was taking to dealer to have fixed under warranty). Only Range Rovers since 1988

Thanks for reply. Having read that thread I don’t think the problem I have is the same. I have never seen the 4x4 light in the dash coming in and it also only does this on the 1st gear change not really after that, also mine is not “dragging” the wheels as such it’s more of a bang/clonk. I tried manual mode yesterday morning and changed down to 1st then on the change to 2nd gear it banged worse than normal when in D, think the reason being was because in D it usually starts in 2 gear and the change to 3rd is’t as bad as 1-2.
