What are the must have extras to have in an l405 apart from the pan roof?

Ideally would prefer an Autobiography but will consider a VSE and a Vogue if it's well specc'd

The only must have extras are the ones you want...... and if we all wanted the same, then I guess they wouldn't be extras

Pano roof - you'd be unlikely to find many without - the only question really is opening or not - and both have their fans - the fixed one is a single pane which some prefer.

For me, I didn't like the basic 380W music and decided the 825W was required - it's standard on a VSE
For my wife it was cooled seats - standard on a VSE

So whilst both could be spec'd on a Vogue, it was easier just to look for a VSE (or AB)

I also needed a tow bar - they are crazy expensive to retrofit....

Most of the other extras I didn't really value

Agree about the music the 825w is a must if you appreciate any kind of half sensible sound quality.

Detachable Witter towbar can be fitted for £549.00 inc VAT so cheap to retrofit unless you must have the deployable.
Sliding pano roof is a must in my opinion and deployable steps if you are shorter than average can be useful.

Seats from an AB are far superior but I'm not sure if they are the same in SE version. Camera's are a gimmick, if you need them then maybe you should consider a chauffeur
Remote park heater is a really nice touch in winter and adaptive cruise is excellent once you have mastered it's shortcomings, both nice to have but not essential.

Trouble is that what we like is not necessarily what you like so it's all a bit subjective. I have to say that higher spec cars don't seem to be much more expensive than lower spec examples.

I get pleasure from soft close and waving the boot open
Opening sun roof not essential for me.

Bill Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

Panoramic roof, I prefer the fixed one without any beam in the middle.
Blind spot monitoring (maybe it is standard)

Agree with the TomTom and add the Fuel Burning Heater - a must for cold morning and standard on the AB. MY23 D350 HSE

deployable side steps ( I can hear Alistair twitching already! )
1700w stereo
Pre heat (FBH)
cooled / heated seats
rear seat entertainment is a god send if you have little ones.

Why is pan roof must have?

Once you have had one I personally wouldn't be without it - plus on a nice summers day, it makes a nice change to open it, a panoroof is also a totally different experience to a normal tiny conventional sun roof - its half way to an open top.  2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Understand all other options apart from deployable side steps and rear entertainment, are they better than fixed side steps and iPad mounted in the back? Please give more comments.

Fixed steps are a pain - get caught on things, dirty your trousers etc.

I like the idea of a fixed pan roof - natural light in the cabin and all that. But I dislike opening sun roofs in the UK - if it's a warm day you want the air con on, plus I don't like fumes, smell and noise from the outside world. I might have a different opinion if I lived somewhere rural. Or the Canary Islands.
I had a Mercedes SLK convertible and had the roof open maybe three times in two years of ownership.
My only must-haves, if I was in this market:
uprated 825W music system
soft close doors
upgraded carpet mats

.............and that's it - easily pleased, me. Not bothered about FBH or RSE.
Oddly enough, I'd actually avoid deplorable (sic) side steps, or fixed side steps (I really don't like them, sorry), and I'd avoid cars with a tow bar, since I will never tow, and I'd think the car had had a tough life lugging trailers around (assume buying used). I would also avoid 22 inch wheels although I guess they're easily changed.

Choose options in 2 ways. The wants you want and the ones the market ones in case you sell.

A VG SE with pan roof, cooled seats, electrical tow hook, extra interior lighting and comfort headrests,. And safety features; dead corner, parking sensors, around camera, parking mode,in line modus are features which sell good.
